This made me think: how can I replicate Dan’s Instagram success, but with a much more toned-down version?
The toughest part of any marketing campaign is getting it off the ground. Once you have a proven model, scaling it becomes easy.
To get a head start, I hired Branden Hampton who has over 30 million social media followers among all his accounts. My goal was to pay Brandon to leverage his profiles and get his followers to come over to me.
But Brandon had a better idea. Why not start with an existing account that already has over 100,000 followers and then leverage his follower base?...

Instagram can be a fun way to stay in contact with people and push branding in a very visual way, but it isn’t much more than a steady stream of images and video, or is it?
In IKEA’s latest innovation, they have taken the idea of an Instagram feed, turned it upside down, and used it to showcase their very own catalog as a very stylish website, right from Instagram.IKEA and Russian ad agency, Instinct, have hacked Instagram to create their very own catalog-esque website; complete with a series of interconnected accounts, right from the Instagram feed....

12 Instagram best practices from Fiona Hogan: - First and foremost, no more than 1/6 of your posts may be selfies. Otherwise, you will appear to be more of a self-obsessed tool than other Instagrammers. Also, do you really look that different on a day to day basis to warrant me having to see your face constantly?
- Don’t post more than twice a day. It makes people wonder “Is so-and-so really out for a bike ride, getting back to nature and being cool/active or did she bike out there, take a picture, then sitting fucking with her phone for the next 20 minutes to find the perfect filter to put on a perfectly good view that’s right in front of her?” You have better thing to do than Instagram, at least, that’s what we want people to think....

One of the limitations of Instagram as a social media marketing tool is that links in posts aren’t clickable. It’s not a deal-breaker — there are many other reasons to use Instagram as part of a marketing mix, including the ability to promote your brand with an active, young audience — but for businesses hoping to bring people back to their websites, the lack of hot links has always been a drawback.
Not a problem without a workaround, however.
Links in Instagram’s profile area are live, a fact that social media news publisher Mashable has been taking advantage of since last spring. Nearly every time Mashable posts on Instagram, it reminds users to click on the link in its profile to learn more about the post’s topic. Here’s how it looked on one of Mashable’s more clicked upon recent Instagram posts...

The results reported by Chobani and Taco Bell are in line with metrics Facebook disclosed from Ben & Jerry's and Levi's last December.
...Neither the brands nor Instagram disclosed the spending by the campaigns, an important factor for advertisers considering the platform. The ads are sold on a CPM basis, meaning advertisers pay a fee based on every 1,000 people reached. Salesforce has estimated the average price of an app-install ad on Facebook at $5.68. Assuming a CPM in the range, both campaigns cost in the tens of thousands of dollars....

New technology breeds brand experimentation. Here, RPA's J Barbush provides a brief troubleshooting guide for Instagram's new time-lapse app, Hyperlapse.

Here are some things brands should keep in mind when using it....

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, these creative Instagram marketing ideas are a fantastic way for brands to share stories with consumers, especially as sharing on social media becomes more oriented towards strong visuals over text.
Even though attention spans are short, Instagram by nature is a fast way to grab someone's attention, whether it's in photo or video format. Some of these creative uses of Instagram include taking advantage of the grid view on a mobile device to create collages, flipbook-style animations, app-based shops, auctions or even an elaborate interactive choose-your-own-adventure experience.
There's quite a range in how easy or complex it would be to put together these campaigns, but with a little creative thinking, there are plenty of ways to promote a product or service on any budget, which is part of the beauty of social media—plus, there's always the chance that a campaign could go absolutely viral....
