As leaders we are always choosing. Choose carefully; choose with insight and make it right.

I absolutely love this story about the fisherman! As you may know I am always singing the tune .........PS - Live on Purpose!
The fisherman was certainly living his life on purpose. A life and career of meaning is different for everyone. A woman can choose to be the Manager of her household as her career, to be the CEO of a company, or to become a teacher...Success is in making the decision, knowing why you made the choice, and finding meaning, fulfillment, and joy from your purposeful life.
The great news is: Having a life of meaning is a choice each one of us can make.
First we need to figure out what makes us happy, what is important to us, what type of career fulfills us, and then make the courageous decision (just like the fisherman) to live the career and life that is designed just for us. We afterall are the designers of our own lives.
We don't need to make the first million before we can find fulfillment and enjoyment from our work, spend time wtih those who we love, do things that bring joy and happiness, and spend time to breathe and enjoy our lives.
The good news is it is never too late:))) So....are you living on purpose? If so, how? Would love to hear from you.

Curiousity opens so many possibilities, and so many new ways to think and be. When you were 5 everything was new and exciting. We didn't have our blinders on then, and we saw everything and anything as being possible.
Why not decide to replace judgment with curiosity? Here is an example: "Carly, what a creative idea -- tell me I'm curious what led you to come up with this solution?
You see, most of the time if we think an idea is wrong, we will automatically excuse the idea, and place judge because the thinking was not consistent to our own.
When I talk I am not learning anything new. When I listen with curiousity it is amazing how much I learn!
So, I challenge you today to start thinking like you were a 5 year old...seeing everything as being possible, and replace judgment with curiosity.

If you want to build credibility at work, always be prepared to add value to the conversation and those you are with. It is okay that you don't know; however, it is often not what you say...it is how you say it that makes all the difference for women professionals.

In this short talk, Arianna Huffington shares a small idea that can awaken much bigger ones: the power of a good night's sleep. Instead of bragging about our sleep deficits, she urges us to shut our eyes and see the big picture: We can sleep our way to increased productivity and happiness -- and smarter decision-making.

CNN correspondent Poppy Harlow reports from Davos on the lack of female presence.
Strong words:
"You can have it all, despite what you're reading in all the magazines that you can't," Cairns told me as I interviewed her for CNN's Leading Women series.
She's just one of many high-profile women attending WEF this year, and rejects the notion that working mothers can't have successful careers.
"The focus takes in everything from fighting terror to addressing the growing income divide. But this year just 17% of participants at this invitation-only summit are female; an increase on 15% in 2014, but still far too small a number.
Meanwhile, on the Fortune 500 list, just 3.4% of corporations have female CEOs. Clearly, there is work to do..."

Very few folks seem to understand or tailor advice to what high-achieving, driven women really experience on a daily basis. People seem to think all we need is a bubble bath. ...
I find strength in knowing that I am not alone here. I am the type of person who shakes it off, steps it up, and lives and breathes by the mantras..."What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and Failure is not an option."
While I still live this way, I have learned how to manage what I believe people refer to as the"Superwoman Syndrome". My take on this is that women like me don't believe they are superwoman; however, they hold themselves accountable for doing things perfectly 24/7 while juggling relationships, tasks, schedules, kids,...the world as though they had superhuman powers.
After reading the article, do any of the below apply to you?
You have to do things perfectly
You are impatient and always have a sense of urgency
Run on 5th gear all of the time
Rarely take time to re-charge yoru batteries
Are up early and go to bed after everyone else to get things done
Can't relax until you finish what you have to do
Feel like you should be able to accomplish more in a day
(If you are a mom, the list doubles:)
If you answered yes to any of the above you proably have the Superwoman Syndrome. Here are 3 things you can do to live with it.
1. Don't think you have to do it all yourself. Tap into the resources that are available to you. The most confident women ask for help and know it is not about them it is about the goal. They put their egos on the bench and get the right resources required to get to the finish line on time.
2. Pay attention to your self talk - find out what you are saying to yourself (Awareness is the beginning of all change)
3. Start talking kinder to yourself today: Instead of talking negatively to yourself, with thougths like: What were you thinking/How could you make that mistake/this is not good enough/You should have thought of that/This is not good enough, etc.
Change the words and thoughts to boost yourself: You have worked hard on this and made great progress, what could we do the next time to be even better? That was a great meeting, you added value and were well prepared -- great job (is there anything that I learned that I could do the next time to add even more value?
The point is to do better until I know better, and when I know better I will do better.

The real success for me is to have a career that is meaningful where you know you make a difference, and you are living on purpose.
