Teachers wanting information about a particular area in Sydney can find information relating to 'Place'.  All events related to that area are described by a century and then decade. The website contains a timeline, various topics and a gallery.

Profiles of Significant People in Australia

This link will take you to the NSW Board of Studies Profiles of Significant People. Why are these people significant? To whom? They may not be significant to you because significance is associated with perspective and purpose.

Significance is a historical concept but what does it mean? What evidence do historians use to determine significance? What criteria do we use to decide whether someone or something is significant?

For more about the notion of  SIGNIFICANCE, refer to research by:

1. Ian Dawson

2. Christine Counsell

3. Geoffery Partington

These three researchers all put forward slightly different models for exploring the concept of significance.
