There’s something about the beginning of every year…. always such an incredibly busy time for me. As responsibilities pile up, one after another in these early months of the year, I find myself shooting less and less. Seems like before, I was able to head out at random times just for the sake of picture making. Now it seems like I have to consciously make time for it, often just squeezing it between other arrangements…

Migrants were among the first victims of the global economic crisis and their situation has become increasingly critical, in a way its own subcrisis. Flexi-in-security, the joint project of five cultural organisations in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Sweden and Belgium, has been developed in reaction to this crisis within a crisis. It is a cultural project with a clear political purpose. While being shocked about the human tragedies and worried about the governments’ lack of compassion for the situation of migrants, we welcome that the crisis has opened a much-needed discussion about the way migration is organized.

The 1940s in New York are often seen as a Golden Age -- a decade when America emerged from the second World War as the globe's undisputed superpower, and New York City became, in a sense, the Capital of the World.

Japan raced to avert a nuclear meltdown today by flooding a nuclear reactor with seawater after Friday's massive earthquake left more than 600 people dead and thousands more missing. Towns in the country's northeast coast were literally wiped away by an ensuing tsunami, leaving countless people seeking shelter in the aftermath of the quake, which measured 8.9 on the Richter scale and was the country's strongest recorded quake.
