The role of task difficulty in collective intelligence

The role of task difficulty in collective intelligence | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Since James Surowiecki his book on the wisdom of crowds back in 2005 the notion that collective intelligence can trump individual intelligence has entered the public consciousness.  It has indelibly led to constructs such as idea markets, where organisations attempt to tap into the crowd for everything from stock picks to business ideas. -

A Closer Look at Transformation: Collective Intelligence

A Closer Look at Transformation: Collective Intelligence | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Next up in this transformation series is the seventh enabler: Collective Intelligence. One of the key themes throughout this transformation series is the clear movement from an enterprise entity to an extended enterprise of stakeholders. This extended enterprise – or what I alternatively call value ecosystem – increases complexity and requires a new management approach to be effective. I use the term collective intelligence as an umbrella phrase that combines the critical need for both collaboration and analytic excellence. This includes other forces like crowd computing, crowdsourcing, co-creation, and wisdom of the crowd – all of which stem from the connectedness of our world, and the growing realization that value creation requires a broader community.

Project of the Day: Sustaining Time

Project of the Day: Sustaining Time | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

“This project tackles not one, but two amazingly complex issues – time and economies – and so as part of setting up the project I’ve had meetings with each of the advisers and project partners to get a better idea of the kinds of issues they think it would be important for the project to address. It’s been fascinating talking to everybody, one-on-one, and to start unpacking how we might go about researching the question of time and sustainable economies.

One Tour’s belief is that collective intelligence can change the world. I think that Delancey Street is striving to build this intelligence from scratch. Criminals who often swore to kill each other -so not particularly thrilled by the collaborative aspect of human relationships- get to learn that it is ok to make mistakes and to ask other co-residents for help.

Collective Intelligence vs The Wisdom of Crowds - collaboration at work - Robertson Cooper

Collective Intelligence vs The Wisdom of Crowds - collaboration at work - Robertson Cooper | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

One of the hottest topics for leading thinkers on work and well-being is flexible and remote working. Five years ago it seemed like the future - organisations adopting new technologies to enable employees to work from home, on the commute, and not have a traditional space termed the office. The flexible working debate has changed in the past 12 months however, and the victory of new technologies for remote working is no longer the expected fait accompli that it has been. Suprisingly, the businesses leading the change of heart on the future of the workplace have been technology firms - with Yahoo, and most recently Hewlett Packard 'banning' their employees from home working.
