Earl J. Wagner created Peace Process to help people communicate with compassion. It builds on the principles of Nonviolent Communication, also known as Compassionate Communication.

Psychologist Marshall Rosenberg died on Saturday, February 7th. Rosenberg was the creator of Nonviolent Communication and the founder and director of educational services for the Center for Nonviolent Communication. He was 80 years old.
Marshall Rosenberg dedicated his life to the study and practice of the conditions that bring about peace. As a consequence, he knew well the critical, sometimes life-saving importance of emotionally-intelligent, awareness-based communication.
Dr. Rosenberg drew on his own painful experiences in racially-divided Detroit and his training in psychology to develop Nonviolent Communication, a particular approach to addressing conflict that emphasizes listening with empathy, naming and expressing feelings in responsible ways, and recognizing our common humanity, even in the midst of our most difficult moments together.

Become the person you want to be, and create the life and world you long for. To do this requires many conversations with yourself and with others in which there is often conflict, struggle, and hurt. The challenges of conflict, however, have the power to lead to growth and transformation, and to new possibilities, if you know how to navigate the stormy seas and rough terrains, and create connection and collaboration.
The focus of this introduction is learning how to return to presence and self-connection when experiencing the fight-or-flight stress response, and respond with the skills of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), a “3-chair” model, and “maps” for navigating conversations with yourself and others to contribute to healing and the world you want.

A fully embodied and integrated experience of empathy – the felt, emotional resonance with experience – can deepen our relationships, transform our spiritual and meditation practices, and enhance the quality of our daily lives. Join Oren for this innovative daylong integrating Nonviolent Communication and Buddhist meditation.
Through a combination of imagery, movement, guided reflection, and interactive exercises you will deepen your innate sense of empathy, develop ways to invoke empathy not only in meditation practice, but in all your relationships, and strengthen your capacity to stay present in all circumstances.
In my perfect universe, everyone would be taught how to approach a grieving person with empathy and to really think before they do or say something that may unintentionally contribute to their suffering.
I do understand that another person can’t “make” you feel anything, that each person has the responsibility for their reactions to people and situations in their lives.
However, there are times when tact, good manners, and compassion are sorely lacking in our society and a little grief awareness and sensitivity training are in order. Think of it as Empathy 101….

With as little as one second of undirected time, the brain reverts to whatever its automatic default network is. This network can be painfully judgmental, even savage, or it can be warm, affectionate and nurturing. Join Sarah Peyton for an exploration of brain change, neuroplasticity, healing and resonance, and leave with tools to help your brain be kinder to itself.
CNVC- Certified trainer Sarah Peyton is teaming up with internationally renowned facilitator Dan Miller for two days of healing and transformational partnership that is deeply rooted in neuroscience. The weekend is fully interactive and will consist of practically applicable theory, demonstrations and practice.
Join Sarah Peyton for 6 days of exploration and healing. For those of you new to Interpersonal Neurobiology, or who would like a review, days 1 and 2 cover the basics, while starting the journey into personal work for the participants. Participants from Sarah’s former workshops will have options of practice.
Days 3 and 4 begin the journey into understanding our attachment patterns, and days 5 and 6 open the door to Family Constellations and how they are facilitated.
Each part of this healing journey will be supported by resonant empathy and somatic exercises, and all the learning will be illustrated by the personal work of the participants.
Nonviolent Communication* helps make life more wonderful! We are inspired by Yinhua Ruan who we coached and who has helped expand access to NVC massively in China through online groups and calls.
Yinhua has shared with us how profoundly important and moving it has been for people to be able to share strong feelings and empathy in calls across the country, and how NVC (Nonviolent Communication) now thrives in China.
Our Vision
a felt and visible experience of global Nonviolent Communication* community welcoming vulnerability and authenticity and innovation
Our Mission to support pioneers to make Nonviolent Communication (NVC) more available in more languages, more countries, more media and more forms
Empathy is one of the most challenging parts of Nonviolent Communication to teach. I wanted to come up with a way for people to practice empathy responses.
The empathy meter shows my guess as to how it would feel to receive that response. The way I came up with the numbers and emotions is I used the emotional scales to assign a number from 1 to 22 to the emotion the person making the original statement is feeling. I used my own emotion I would be experiencing if I were making that statement. I also added an intensity component to help clarify the feeling.
The goal is to guess which statements will help the person feel better. You will probably notice many of the statements which are commonly used, might lead to the person feeling worse.
Emotions 1
(Joy) ⇒ 7 (Contentment) are positive emotions.8
(Boredom) ⇒ 13
(Doubt) are the milder negative emotions. The stronger negative emotions are 14
(Worry) ⇒ 20
(Jealousy), mostly outward directed. The strongest negative emotions are 21
(Guilt) & 22 (Depression) which are inner directed.

I just saw this message that Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of the Center for Nonviolent Communication had passed. Marshall was a graduate student of Carl Rogers and greatly extended the work, understanding and practice of empathy. Marshall taught the NVC empathy based process to thousands of people and built a thriving community of practice. His students have then gone on to teach NVC to tens of thousands more around the world. see Center for Nonviolent Communications http://j.mp/1zM2Jjr
Dear all, It is with great emotion that I write to tell you that Marshall Rosenberg passed from this life 3 days ago, on Saturday, February 7th. He passed peacefully at home, with his wife Valentina - who shared the news with me a few minutes ago - and all his children by his side.
I know no way to describe the impact this man had on so many people - for his work and for his being, and for the extraordinary power the balance between these two unleashed. He was a beloved teacher to countless people on every continent, people whose hearts were touched and shone with the possibility his work made tangible
To many of you reading he was also an inspired and inspiring colleague who changed the course of your lives and brought an inestimable sense of meaning and the potential for transformation to every area of your world. And who, at each moment, did this with utmost simplicity, humility and humanness.
In great mourning, and with the most profound reverence and soaring gratitude for the spirit he released in us, and whose light we carry forwards.
