We had always wanted our childrens first name to be their own, not a family name, but something that is theirs alone, then second names to hold something of their heritage. We named Coco a little differently though, I had always loved the name Coco, of course a name of a strong and talented woman, but also endearing and sweet, the right mix of feminine and masculine. We named Coco the day we found out she had Trisomy 18 ( you can read more here ), which was the same day we found out we were having a girl, and then we added Darling as a whimsical reference to Peter Pan and Neverland, as she wouldn’t ever grow up. Margot has a prettty long name, which we tossed and turned over while I was pregnant, we had two main contenders for first names, a few second names but the third name Pipiwharauroa was a must. So we named her Margot, meaning pearl, something beautiful out of a hard time and also in reference to the great Wes and Tenenbaums, Rae meaning wise protection after her rough entry into the world and her Great Pops name, Pipiwharauroa after her Great great great great grandmother on her fathers side, a strong, independent woman, meaning shinning cuckoo of summer, herald of spring, sunshine after winter and our little summer babe.

Willa Belle and Juniper Plum where divinely chosen. I believe that children chose the body they want to be born into before they arrive EarthSide and also their name. Papa bear never talks in his sleep but one evening after we had been talking about baby names and not agreeing on any he rolled over and out of the blue he said “her name is Juniper”!! He didn’t remember saying it in the morning. And with Willa i received an email from a friend and in it was the name Willa and I just knew it was right. And funnily enough those two names where the only names we agreed on.
