I’d say that part of the reason you love Serena is that it isn’t overtly Italian, but the vowels and lyrical nature mean it feels good with your surname. I think that’s what you’re looking for on some level, and it’s also why your husband likes Penelope

I think what’s really going on here is an attraction to sound. Graceful, lilting, vowel-heavy names are in- from Aria and Aaliyah to Isaiah and Leonardo, many parents seem to be searching for names with the flowing, musical sound that so many Hawaiian names offer.
