Montessori Builds Innovators

Montessori Builds Innovators | Montessori & 21st Century Learning | Scoop.it

Shouldn't we be paying a great deal of attention to the educational method that produced, among others, Larry Page, Sergei Brin, Jeff Bezos, Jimmy Wales, Peter Drucker, Julia Child, David Blaine, and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs? They were all students in Montessori schools. So maybe there's something to the method Italian physician Maria Montessori came up with around the turn of the 20th century.

Is Montessori The Origin Of Google & Amazon? [Forbes] | Montessori & 21st Century Learning | Scoop.it

Steve Denning's article on education and Montessori:

"The idea that we don’t have to reinvent the wheel was striking. The example of thousands of Montessori schools is before us. Montessori puts the student at the center. It is proven to work. The approach is over 100 years old but the ideas are timeless. The world is finally catching up with Maria Montessori’s insights."

Montessori Madness: One Parent's Rant on Education [video]

Trevor Eissler is a Montessori parent who wrote the book Montessori Madness! A Parent to Parent Argument for Montessori Education. It’s rare for a Montessori book to be written by a parent rather than an educator, and I think that makes the book all the more powerful in its message about the importance of Montessori education.

Eissler is a powerful advocate not only for his children but for all children – who he believes should be given the opportunity to have a Montessori education.

Interestingly, these shared values manifest in similar ways in terms of teacher and student roles as they play out in seemingly-contradictory environments.
