Unlocking the Secrets of the Tibetan Book of the Dead

Unlocking the Secrets of the Tibetan Book of the Dead | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

I have been initiated into the secret ‘Highest Yoga Tantra’ tradition of Tibetan Buddhism where I swore never to reveal the secrets they shared with me but here I go again, as I did in Revealing the Secrets of Inner Fire Meditation

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"Remember the clear light, the pure clear white light from which everything in the universe comes, to which everything in the universe returns; the original nature of your own mind. The natural state of the universe unmanifest. Let go into the clear light, trust it, merge with it. It is your own true nature, it is home." - Padmasambhava

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"I became enamored of [Buddhism] when I realized its basic tenet began by saying, essentially, 'Life sucks and then you die, so what’s that all about?' This was the religion for me. This was a framework I could use to examine my actual experience. Far from the promise of pie-in-a-big-sky afterlife, this was about dealing with the fear that comes when you realize nothing is going to save your ass". —Patricia Anderson

Envy is “universal,” assert the authors of the HBR article, psychologist Tanya Menon and Leigh Thompson, a management professor. And psychologists, anthropologists, and philosophers for the most part agree: envy is a standard-issue human emotion, albeit the one we are least likely to admit to, even to ourselves

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Think you aren't envious or jealous of others? Shakespeare knew otherwise. What envy is and how to deal with it from a Buddhist perspective, and how these realisations help our spiritual progress...

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

There is little doubt that the UFO phenomena are real. But the nature of the phenomena are not easily understood or explained. In this article psychic researcher Dr Dean Radin examines three world views, and argues that UFO's are evidence of the M3 hypothesis, where consciousness is primary, and matter and energy are emergent properties of consciousness...

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Experiment confirms quantum theory weirdness

Experiment confirms quantum theory weirdness | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
The bizarre nature of reality as laid out by quantum theory has survived another test, with scientists performing a famous experiment and proving that reality does not exist until it is measured. Physicists have conducted John Wheeler's delayed-choice thought experiment, which involves a moving object that is given the choice to act like a particle or a wave. The group reversed Wheeler's original experiment, and used helium atoms scattered by light.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

A recent experiment at the ANU confirms yet again that reality doesn't exist until it is measured. "It proves that measurement is everything. At the quantum level, reality does not exist if you are not looking at it," said Associate Professor Andrew Truscott from the ANU Research School of Physics and Engineering.

A heartening perspective on mortality by way of the physics of the cosmos and the poetics of the night-blooming cereus cactus.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

According to the Mahaparinibbana Sutta, when the Buddha passed away, the king deity Sakka uttered the following: “Impermanent are all component things. They arise and cease, that is their nature: They come into being and pass away.” We should not “attach” to things in this world, say the Buddhists, because all things are temporary and will soon pass away. All suffering, say the Buddhists, arises from attachment.

Top 7 Tips for Meditation from the World’s Happiest Man | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

A French genetic scientist may seem like an unusual person to hold the title – but Matthieu Ricard is the world’s happiest man, according to researchers. The 66-year-old turned his back on Parisian intellectual life 40 years ago and moved to India to study Buddhism. He is now a close confidante of the Dalai Lama and respected western scholar of religion.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Excellent tips from a man whose brainwave patterns have been studied, revealing an unusually high level of gamma waves. These are produced during Buddhist "metta" (compassion) meditation. The extraordinary life of Thich Nhat Hanh

The extraordinary life of Thich Nhat Hanh | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh is one of the most influential religious leaders of the last 100 years. A friend and contemporary of Martin Luther King, he had a huge impact on the anti-war movement of the 1960s and ‘70s and continues to speak out against violence in all its forms, as Kerry Stewart writes.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Thich Nhat Hanh, known as "Thay" to his followers, coined the term "engaged Buddhism". He encouraged people to get off their meditation cushions and help others. He has been involved in social movements through the decades, always preaching non-violent solutions. Now 88, he is slowly recovering from a brain haemorrhage, and the thoughts of millions are with him...

The Taboo of Enlightenment | Tricycle

The Taboo of Enlightenment | Tricycle | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

One of the most popular Buddhist teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area these days is not a Tibetan lama or a traditional Zen master but an unconventional, an American-born lay teacher named Adyashanti. His public talks and dialogues (which he calls satsangs, a term borrowed from India’s Advaita, or "nondual," tradition) attract hundreds of seekers, Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"Most human beings spend their lives battling with opposing inner forces: what they think they should do versus what they are doing; how they feel about themselves versus how they are; whether they think they’re right and worthy or wrong and unworthy. The separate self is just the conglomeration of these opposing forces. When the self drops away, inner division drops away with it." —Adyashanti

What Is Meditation? Relaxation

What Is Meditation? Relaxation | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
Meditation is rest, absolute rest, a full stop to all activity - physical, mental, emotional. The key word is rest, relaxation. Never go against rest and relaxation.
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

"But remember, the key word is rest, relaxation. Never go against rest and relaxation. Arrange your life in such a way, drop all futile activity because ninety per cent is futile; it is just for killing time and remaining occupied. Do only the essential and devote your energies more and more to the inner journey. Then that miracle happens when you can remain at rest and in action together, simultaneously." - Osho

Eating and the Wheel of Life | Tricycle

Eating and the Wheel of Life | Tricycle | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it

“Knowing how much is enough when eating.”

It sounds so simple. Yet how often the matter of “enough” trips us up. For much of the world, getting enough to eat is the problem. Here in America we eat too much. Two-thirds of the population is overweight, nearly a third clinically obese; meanwhile, our ideal of physical beauty keeps getting thinner and thinner.

Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character;
So watch the thought and its ways with care,
And let it spring from love
Born out of concern for all beings . . .
As the shadow follows the body,
As we think, so we become.

Synchronicity and the Secret of the Co-creator

Synchronicity and the Secret of the Co-creator | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
If you believe synchronicity is simply coincidence, then you haven’t read any of the top experts in the field. The famous psychotherapist Carl Gustav Jung coined the term synchronicity in the 1920s to reference the alignment of universal forces with a person’s experiences. These forces have been sought out for centuries in many spiritual traditions as a means of aligning with the “flow". By Guest Writer Robert Torres
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events that are apparently unrelated occurring together in a meaningful manner to the observer. To be true synchronicity the odds of these events occurring by chance should be extremely unlikely - if not astronomical. I have had many such experiences in my life, usually at times of great focus and associated with spiritual practice...

‘Impossible’ Quantum Space Engine Actually Works – NASA Test Suggests

‘Impossible’ Quantum Space Engine Actually Works – NASA Test Suggests | meditation, spirituality and meaning | Scoop.it
A couple of years ago, researchers at NASA’s Johnson Space Center discovered a thruster system which actually generates thrust, despite requiring absolutely zero propellant. The implications of this discovery are far-reaching; applications for space flight and other technologies which require propulsion could one day become far cheaper, allowing space exploration to expand exponentially. The existence of this […]
Cottesloe Naturopathic Clinic's insight:

The very fabric of the universe  - of "empty" space - is energy, infinite energy! We are close to harnessing that. In fact there is ample evidence that many have done it before and have been bought out or "silenced". That also opens the possibility of "warp drive" for space vehicles. This means the possibility of almost instantaneous travel between the stars - bypassing the light speed limit by moving space and time around the vehicle instead of moving the vehicle itself. If the human race is to survive, therein lies our destiny...
