Let's get the important issues dealt with first. This clip looks at the possible impact of Brexit on a small chocolate company. THey can't stockpile to the extent that large firms can, and anyway many of their raw materials would go off, so what are the alternatives? Going abroad.

Firms looking for places to store extra supplies in the run-up to Brexit may be too late, MPs are told.
Graham Watson's insight:

Let the stockpiling begin! I love Brexit, but it seems that the opportunity costs are already mounting up with the UK having run out of warehousing space for firms looking to store extra supplies.

 

The net result of all of this is likely to be higher prices - with the increased costs of storage being passed on to the final consumer, I suspect.

The extent of Brexit stockpiling is becoming evident as an increased number of warehouse owners no longer have spare capacity. Perhaps the biggest concern is for food producers who might be struggling to house perishable items in the weeks ahead.
