It’s overwhelming, all-encompassing, and perhaps most importantly, lacks the context we’ve come to expect from modern communication apps...

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Rather than eliminating the artist, the technology has changed the way they work, expanding it in some cases. After all, the creation of the pieces in the 3D modeling software is not simply a matter of technical data input. It is instead another medium in which to create – it is a tool with its own set of possibilities and limitations. Click to see full article,

Apple’s iPhone have always come with one of the best smartphone cameras and many users take advantage of this by taking beautifully shot photos and videos on it. Once you have that footage, you’re going to want a way to edit it.
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Many of the video-editing apps found in the App Store can rival desktop editing apps and they are also very easy to use. Some can even turn a drab, boring video into something spectacular in a matter of minutes.

With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed has lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behavior, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone. WILD powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.

Nothing Lasts Forever has been shown at a handful of screenings (and aired on German television) over the years, but it's never been released on DVD or made available in a commercial format. Nonetheless, Murray fanatics can enjoy the full display of weirdness here:
If you want to succeed, you need to forget about your friends and your family. Leave them behind. There are cooler, smarter, funnier people on Google+ than we have in our own lives now.

What Are Cliplets?
Microsoft Research Cliplets is an interactive app that gives users the power to create "Cliplets" -- a type of imagery that sits between stills and video, including imagery such as video textures and "cinemagraphs". The app provides a simple, yet expressive way to mix static and dynamic elements from a video clip. Get it for free here: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/clipletsdesktop/
It’s a sad fact that the vast majority of silent movies in Japan have been lost thanks to human carelessness, earthquakes and the grim efficiency of the United States Air Force. The first films of hugely important figures like Kenji Mizoguchi, Yasujiro Ozu, and Hiroshi Shimizu have simply vanished.
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:
Teinosuke Kinugasa’s Kuretta Ippei – a 1926 film known in the States as A Page of Madness – has somehow managed to survive the vagaries of fate. Kinugasa sought to make a European-style experimental movie in Japan and, in the process, he made one of the great landmarks of silent cinema. You can watch it here. |
