MEPs in Brussels on Thursday voted in favour of a Commission proposal to ban roaming charges across mobile phone networks in the 28 member states, in a move towards a telecoms single market. Plans foresee that roaming charges will end in December 2015. The vote on Thursday is also a success for Luxembourg's Viviane Reding, who strongly opposed roaming charges and supported their ban as EU Justice Commissioner.

Un appel sur mobile dans le pays d'origine coûte en moyenne 14,7 cents par minute aux Pays-Bas contre 1,9 cent en Lituanie. Parmi les autres pays où les coups de fil coûtent chers, figurent le Luxembourg (14,6 cents la minute), la Belgique (13,8 cents) et la France (12,7 cents). La moyenne au sein de l'UE est de 9,1 cents.

Lorsque l'on compare le montant du salaire minimum dans les pays de l'UE on constate que les écarts entre les pays sont parfois très importants. Un employé bulgare gagne ainsi 12 fois moins qu'un salarié luxembourgeois.

On note tout d'abord, que seuls 21 pays sur les 28 Etats membres de l'UE ont une législation qui introduit un salaire minimum pour ses salariés (l'Allemagne par exemple n'en a pas). Il faut préciser aussi que le Luxembourg a un côut de vie beaucoup plus élevé que les autres pays et que cette somme est justifiée...

Electronic signatures are to be harmonised and electronic identities mutually recognised across the EU, under proposals unveiled by the European Commission on Monday.
Governments will not be compelled to introduce e-ID schemes, and they will not even be forced to make their national schemes interoperable with others if they do not want to.
At the moment, citizens in Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain all have e-ID cards, and Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden have similar systems.
