Claris Studio (part 4): Forms the easy way! – | Learning Claris FileMaker | Scoop.it

This article covers more Views, a little errata from past articles (Parts 1, 2, & 3), and where we go from here.

This is the final article of the planned four.

But if something really inspiring materializes, there may be followup article(s).

Some famous "trilogies" (films and books, especially) have gotten additional content, so why not?

 Welcome back!

The Spreadsheet View and the Dashboard View are not the only features of Claris Studio.

I chose them to discuss first because the Spreadsheet has more information about the tables and fields.

That information may be helpful on all Views.

But we have other Views: anonymous Form submission, a List-Detail View (suitable for searching, adding, editing), a Kanban View (just another way to present the data & edit it), and some new ones since the last article.

Claris platform: Pro comparison

In our previous article, introducing The Claris Platform, we outlined the three toolsets available — Claris Pro, Claris Connect and Claris Studio.

The largest of these toolsets is Claris Pro, and the headline product in that toolset is Claris Pro itself.

What is Claris Pro?

Claris Pro is the FileMaker Pro app ported to the Claris platform.

So the good news is that you likely already know how to use Claris Pro.

Claris Pro allows you to create, develop and use database files. Essentially, it has all the features of FileMaker Pro but works on the Claris platform.

There are some differences but most of these have very little impact on how you build databases.

Differences are primarily in line with differences in the way each platform works and what is supported.

Claris Studio will allow users to collect data via web forms anonymously, without having to log in to a file with a username and password.

What are some use cases for Claris Studio?

These scenarios (and many others) would be a good fit for Claris Studio:

• Customer satisfaction surveys

• Pre-employment questionnaires

• • Activity registration forms

Vacation request forms

• Team building activity surveys

Claris Pro: File Conversion

Claris Pro: File Conversion

21 February 2023

Claris Pro has a new file extension with an updated file format to make files compatible with all Claris platform products.

The new extension is .claris for all Claris Pro files.

When you create a new file with Claris Pro, it will naturally have the .claris extension.

This article is for existing FileMaker Pro users who are switching to the new Claris Pro.

Any existing .fmp12 files will need to be converted before they can be opened with Claris Pro.

Claris Studio (part 3) – Spreadsheet: Details, please! –

Claris Studio (part 3) – Spreadsheet: Details, please! – | Learning Claris FileMaker | Scoop.it
This is part three of a series on the new Claris platform.

We (Beverly Voth at FileMaker Hacks) introduced the overview, Claris Studio, Tell Me More! on 29 September 2022, and Claris Studio (part 2) – Integration with Claris Pro on 12 October 2022.

This article gets into more details on the different types of views in Claris Studio.

Since the spreadsheet view will likely be a most common usage for many, this article will be devoted to it.
The spreadsheet view in Claris Studio has plenty of goodies & features, and can be used to create Dashboard views (charts and summary text).

Recap of Claris Webinar: More than Just FileMaker | Learning Claris FileMaker | Scoop.it

In today’s webinar, Claris focused on business leaders.

Brad Freitag, Claris CEO, removed his Claris hat and played the role of just a CEO.

Collectively, the Claris team focused on decision-makers, the Claris Community, and changes in the Claris platform.

Thinking like an executive Brad Freitag talked about running a business in an agile framework, driven by priorities and a quarter-by-quarter horizon, motivated by the company’s vision and mission.

He said an executive focuses on running a “coordinated company, not a […]
