Donald Trump will be in breach of a government contract unless he gives up his ownership stake in a luxury Washington, DC, hotel before his inauguration, Democratic lawmakers said Tuesday. The new Trump International Hotel has been at the hub of conflict of interest charges directed at Trump because it is situated in a taxpayer-owned architectural gem, the Old Post Office, which Trump's company leases from the federal government. But the agency that leased the property to Trump, the General Services Administration, told lawmakers that the lease forbids any elected official from holding the lease, the lawmakers said in a letter addressed to the agency’s administrator.

BEIRUT (AP) — A cease-fire deal between rebels and the Syrian government in the city of Aleppo effectively collapsed on Wednesday, with fighter jets resuming deadly air raids over the opposition's densely crowded enclave in the east of the city. The attacks threatened to scuttle plans to evacuate rebels and tens thousands of civilians out of harm's way, in what would seal the opposition's surrender of the city. The evacuation was supposed to begin at dawn but shelling resumed in the morning hours and buses meant to be used in the pullout of rebels and civilians returned to their depots. Activists and fighters trapped in the opposition's last sliver of territory in Aleppo said pro-government forces had struck their district with dozens of rockets since mid-morning. They said aircraft resumed bombing shortly after noon. RELATED

A nascent ceasefire in east Aleppo has been broken, according to multiple activists inside the city. Shelling has struck rebel-held neighborhoods, they say. The Turkey-brokered ceasefire between government troops, regime-aligned militia and rebel forces was announced Tuesday after government forces reclaimed most of the northern Syrian city. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a statement that several buses remained idle in neighborhoods of the stricken city, over two hours after the evacuation was due to commence.

Until now, President Temer had not been directly tied to Operation Car Wash. But the documents obtained by BuzzFeed Brazil reveal that Cláudio Melo Filho, a former executive at Brazil's largest construction company, Odebrecht, told prosecutors during his plea bargain proceedings that the firm gave Temer $3.3 million in undeclared funds in 2014. According to the documents, some of the money was delivered to the São Paulo law office of José Yunes, a lifelong friend and powerful adviser to Temer. President Temer and Mr. Yunes denied the allegations, and Odebrecht declined to comment. Quem é quem e o que recebeu na lista de codinomes da Odebrecht
