Cannabis regulation is by no means a simple matter... | ReactNow - Latest News updated around the clock | Scoop.it
I think it’s fair to suggest that the CDPC favours a model of regulation that draws on the best evidence from public health regulation of alcohol and tobacco. But when it comes to cannabis regulation the devil really is in the details.

A useful framework to begin debate - and to avoid the over simplicity of embracing any form regulation as an inherently good thing.

The New Zealand PSA 2013 banned every psychoactive substance. Possession = $500

Supply = 2yrs prison.
Only government approved drugs can be bought and sold.

The Police are making full use of the new powers that extend prohibition which is why the PSA was voted in by an overwhelming 119-1 votes by MPs

"It's not drugs that cause so much harm it's drug policy!"
Clarence Henderson's curator insight, November 20, 2013 4:18 PM

We live in a time when elected officalls are freely volunteering admissions of smoking crack as well as boldly declaring their  recreational drug use..

Such open admissions  of drug use does not equate into a peerceptiopn of drug abuse .Even when such declarations come from those  who hold seats of power, the majority of people are increasingly more to forgive than condem.

For example : the publicly pillaryed Marion Barry, L. A. Mayor  snaged in a drug sting. some say it was a set-up. Notwithstanding the crucible Mr. Barry suffered from media and pundits he was re-elected after every selacious detail of his being busted was blasted in the court of public opinion. Re-Elected... by mandated numbers

These revelations only support the need for national harm reduction awareness  education.
