Fear to speak in the target language in non-native speakers' classroom has been a long topic of debate among the educationist, teachers and planners alike. Most children in Nepalese context either feel humiliated before they make mistakes in their utterance. Others fear to share their thoughts due to lack of proper knowledge of target language. While a large group of students, in the school where I teach, do not want to hear the negative feed backs from their teachers. There is always one or other reasons, which may not work together in every students, for excuses to students when it comes to speaking in the targeted language.

Ana Cristina, it all depends on the situation and the needs of the learners. For short courses or for writing skills development wikis can do a good job. For more complex courses or with larger groups, Moodle is my preferred option. An alternative to edmodo you might like to try out is https://www.schoology.com

In complete agreement Carl! It's the context that influences my choice of LMS. Because I find Edmodo meets my needs to have a simple & practical LMS for students, while at the same offering me the possibility to teach with it (e.g. word games, digital stories etc), I haven't had the need to set up wikis lately. I've heard very good things about schoology; from what I saw it's excellent as well. We really are spoilt by choice these days! (and yes, in complete agreement with you regarding Moodle; I like it especially for distance ed).

Nik Peachey's insight:
Voxy looks like a really great all round product to get students listening, reading and speaking. You can access it through any device, but the mobile app looks really great and it's one of the first I've seen that really seems to be drawing on the multimedia capabilities of mobile and tablet devices for language learning.

This looks like a great tool for publishing student work or getting started on an ebook project.

Quick, concise and easy to understand. Did they learn anything? If its not on this list than maybe not! but a great way to classify and identify desiging learning programs to meet the learners needs and achieve outcomes. brilliant. |
