According to AM General, Saber Blade has an enhanced level of protection including blast protection for the front and rear wheels. Additional safety features include an advanced occupancy protection restraint system, advanced modular blast seats and ArmorVision transparent armour from ArmorWorks. Saber Blade is powered by a V8 6.5-litre diesel engine developing 205hp, coupled to an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case.

Valkyrie C-UAS software from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is ready for customers, Shephard learned during the AUSA 2022 exhibition in Washington DC on 10-12 October. The system can detect, track, identify and mitigate UAV threats (including small drones) and provides ‘over 90 percent’ total mission effectiveness, according to the company. Valkyrie has been tested at the US Army’s Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. In a 16 September memorandum, the Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office (JCO) recommended the system, stating that SAIC has developed a ‘robust SoS [system of systems] architecture, with layered sensors and effectors’. Leonardo DRS, along with seven industry partners, spent the past year designing, integrating, and testing a counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) based on a single Stryker Double-V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICVVA1) that it will showcase at the Association of the US Army (AUSA) 2022 conference in Washington, DC, from 10 to 12 October. Ed House, Leonardo DRS's senior director for land systems, provided Janes with an initiative overview on 4 October ahead of the annual meeting in Washington, DC. This new single-vehicle capability was born, in part, from the company's work with the army on the Mobile, Low, Slow, Unmanned Aircraft Integrated Defeat System (M-LIDS) programme − a two-vehicle C-UAS system based on the mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) all-terrain vehicle (M-ATV). During the AUSA 2021 conference, Leonardo DRS approached the service about working on a fully integrated C-UAS capability based on a single vehicle, House said.

The latest sale by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) into the lucrative Asia-Pacific defence market involves ‘several dozen’ of its DroneGuard ComJam system, the manufacturer revealed on 5 September. IAI did not disclose the identity of the customer buying the communications jamming technology, or when it expects to provide the DroneGuard ComJams. The company indicated that the end-user will employ DroneGuard ComJam to protect military bases, critical infrastructure and ‘manoeuvring forces’. IAI noted: ‘UAS may be used for hostile purposes such as gathering intelligence, smuggling or even carrying armaments. Furthermore, their detection is often difficult because of their small physical size, slow air speed, and low-altitude flight.’ IAI has identified the Asia-Pacific region as an important growth market. The company showcased its Barak MX air defence missile family at the Singapore Airshow in February 2022, and the following month it announced a manufacturing contract from an unnamed Asia-Pacific customer for long-range maritime patrol aircraft.

Polish company Mechanical Works Tarnów (ZMT) used MSPO 2022 in Kielce on 6-9 September to display a new C-UAS and anti-cruise missile system with automatic target tracking and acquisition.
The vehicle-mounted system includes a set of sensors integrated with a RADA radar system and EO seeker head.
Integrated sensors allow highly dynamic and precise tracking to defeat air targets, according to ZMT, while a 12.7mm WKLM multi-barrel machine gun is used to ensure high fire coverage of the target to neutralise the threat.
The system uses an exMHR software-defined, multi-mission 4D AESA pulse Doppler radar that can detect small UAVs
