Yet, in the midst of great uncertainty, we focus energy on the evolving nature of our world, committed to the practices that will advance a new generation of learners. The School District of Kettle Moraine remains at the forefront, postured to challenge existing models of education with valid, sustainable systems that prepare students to be learners, for all times.

While Facebook and Google Plus social continue to push new features live, battling themselves over who can dominate the market, Twitter remains the most powerful driver of traffic to my site. Ever since the t.co shortener was introduced, I can see it showing up at the top of my referrers at any given day. This is very powerful and also quite reassuring. Continuing to improve and work on my Twitter performance has paid off greatly so far.

Gloria Ladson-Billings is considered one of the leaders in scholarship concerning the education of African-American children today. Most notably she is credited with the concept of "culturally relevant pedagogy," which is explored in great depth in her book The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children, where she asks the African-American community in her study to identify good teachers (regardless of race) and develops profiles of those teachers. Ladson-Billings is currently the Kellner Family Chair in Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds the office of the President of the American Educational Research Association.

From Miguel Guhlin: For many, wikis have become the easiest way to throw up a web site without the frequent commitment of updates, as expected in blogs. This makes wikis the collaboration tool for teachers and students. Of course, it can be a tool for district departments as well!

From Catlin Tucker - Honors English Teacher: This blog post is dedicated to all of the overworked teachers who just don’t have the time to seek out this information. I have provided brief explanations, links to and pictures of the tools mentioned by Simple K12 (and a couple of my favorites). I hope this makes it more manageable for teachers to pick and choose which tools they want to use.

The only thing corporate ed reform policies have done successfully is bring the anti-labor politics of class warfare to public schools. By overreaching, demonizing teachers and unions, and sharply polarizing the education debate, corporate reform has undermined serious efforts to improve schools.

By Deborah Meier: If we want teachers who are smart, caring, alive to students' needs, and are in it for the long haul, we need to consider how to create schools that are themselves centers for the continual learning of everyone connected to them. We've learned most of what we know about teaching K-12 from our own schooling experience. Unlearning powerful past history in the absence of equally powerful settings for relearning won't work.
