Campaigning group, Fairtrade, is calling on the government to back a new global equality initiative.

The issue of inequality in the labour market is a global one, and this instance also has developmental implications, with female cocoa farmers getting paid substantially less than their male equivalents, according to Fairtrade.

In the battle for gender equality Iceland is leading the world. The tiny island is pioneering news ways to close the gender pay gap, root out stereotypes and get more mothers back to work.

It's difficult not to be excited by the quality of material that I've 'scooped' this afternoon - and here's another gem, looking at the best place in the world to be a woman. The Economist looks at Iceland and how the Icelandic authorities have narrowed the pay gap, altered gender stereotypes and increased the number of working mothers. It's just fantastic stuff.
