10 Steps to a Successful School iPad Program

10 Steps to a Successful School iPad Program | DIGITAL LEARNING | Scoop.it

iPads have certainly become a highly desired commodity in education. Apple is reporting that schools are purchasing iPads by a ratio of 2:1 over MacBooks. However, that rush to purchase the latest technologies often precedes the careful planning and preparation that’s crucial to their success as educational tools.

Stated simply, technology alone doesn’t have the capacity to improve education. It needs to be woven into a holistic approach to education that encompasses thorough planning and ongoing review of the skills and competencies required by the rapidly changing society that characterizes life in the 21st century.

Mr P's ICT blog - iPads in the Classroom: Utilising the iPad to enhance Primary Science lessons | DIGITAL LEARNING | Scoop.it

"Many of my posts look at ways to use the iPads in Literacy and Numeracy to enhance learning and engage, motivate and inspire children. But how can using the iPad also help children in other subjects like Science, History or Geography? Here are some ideas about how using the iPad can help the children show, share and develop their learning in these subjects with a distinct focus on Science."

We call them Stamps and they're a completely new online format for framing your talent and sharing content on the web. Baiba Svenca's curator insight, May 2, 2013 2:00 PM

Stampsy is a new iPad app for creating digital content. The steps are easy to follow - add images and text to your page using drag-and-drop method. Change colours or fonts, and design the page as you like.

The result you'll get is a linear presentation with great visual potential, perfect for storytelling purposes.

There is a small inconvenience though - you will need a Facebook account to use the application.

The app is free. Download it here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/stampsy/id582398120?mt=8

ghbrett's curator insight, May 8, 2013 9:32 AM

Stampsy is an interesting graphic tool currently for the iPad. It has a few necessry tools such as Headline, Text, Images, Colour Palette, Various Fonts, and best of all it is limited to 10 pages. If Powerpoints were limited to 10 pages I wonder how much real information would be lost? No doubt we'd see the important information. Check it out.

Training teachers before the widespread use of a certain tool in the classroom environment is a must. If you don't know how to use a tool, you cannot understand its affordances and consequently will not know the possibilites of exploiting it appropriately.

Traditionally done on large pieces of paper, why not use your iPad to create mind maps? "So you’ve had your iPad for a while now, and you are starting to find it difficult to remember where all of your apps are. Maybe you have a few go-to apps that you have memorized the location of, but where did that birthday card making app go that you downloaded three months ago?

If you have more apps than you know what to do with, it is time to weed out the old ones and organize what you want to keep into folders for quick access."
