Nogales, Mexico, just next to Nogales, Ariz., is divided by a 25-foot fence and is a world away.
In some spots along the Mexican-American border, a well-fortified fence extends as far as the eye can see, while in others a wall ends abruptly in the ocean.

The Great Wall is a must see on a trip to China. Our trips to the Great Wall have no hidden shopping stops so we maximize your time on the wall. There are several sections to visit, but we recommend the Mutianyu section if you are taking a day trip, as this will take about half your day. If you want to do a serious hiking trip, then Jinshanling to Simatai or Gubeikou is recommended.

The G-Cans Underground Temple in Saitama is probably the most massive underground flood management system in the world- comprised of 100s of kilometers of tunnels up to 50 meters underground connecting 5 vast silos and one immense water tank: The Temple. The complex spans 6.3km between Showa in Tokyo and Kasukabe in Saitama, with the power to pump 200 tons of water per second into the Edogawa river. Wow.

Generally, one head is enough for any living creature, but the mythological hydra had more than its fair share – just perfect for slaying any ancient Greeks unwise enough to cross its path. Of course, many-headed beasts have made plenty of appearances in modern-day fiction, too – from Fluffy the huge three-headed dog in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, to Sesame Street’s bungling two-headed monster.

Ancient Chinese started building fortifications as early as the eighth century BCE to help in their military efforts against the nomads to the north. The first emperor of the Qin dynasty (221-206 BCE) connected the existing walls into a single system, known as the Great Wall. The Great Wall was periodically rebuilt, with most of the current wall dating to the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The Great Wall extends about 7,300 kilometers (4,500 miles) from the Shanhai Pass on the east coast to the Jiayu Pass in modern Gansu province.
