Therapist and author Julie Bjelland notes "Sensory Overload tends to be one of our biggest challenges as HSPs.
"It is when our senses take in more information than our brain can keep up with processing.
"It is often the culprit of symptoms of emotional reactivity, anxiety, irritability, sleep issues, exhaustion, and even loss of productivity, creativity, and focus."
People say it can feel like "Someone turned the volume up on everything."
"It’s like I can’t handle one more thing in my head."
Probably most artists and creators are highly sensitive people. While sensitivity comes with many gifts and positive qualities, there are also challenges to understand and deal with to enhance your creative life.

* The power of nature Dr. Orloff discusses the special connection empaths share with nature as a source of replenishment, urging us to “go into nature” whenever possible as a means of coming into one’s full power as an empath.
* Empaths as leaders Because of our deep sensitivity and ability to lead from the heart, explains Dr. Orloff, empaths are poised to become tomorrow’s leaders sharing a new vision of our interconnectedness.
This audio is from the much longer video conversation with Melissa Schwartz by Wendy De Rosa on "Three Types of Boundaries Empaths Need to Stay Centered in Today’s World."
A page by host The Shift Network summarizes:
"Empaths are highly sensitive people who feel energy, but often feel ungrounded when energy from others crosses into their own energetic body.
"They may know they need stronger boundaries, but what kind of boundaries would benefit an empath? In this session, Wendy De Rosa shows you three different types of boundaries necessary for empaths to be empowered, and how they strengthen your energetic body.
"She'll also walk you through a practice that you'll want to revisit, over and over, to establish these boundaries."
