Why do so many of the pampered rich like King Willem-Alexander, deliver messages about cut backs in welfare and still the masses support and cheer them. Are the likes of him mere stupid fall guys for those telling them to spell out the message or are they really as two faced and stupid as they sound. Such people rarely if ever refuse the public money hived off by others (if not themselves) to support their greedy selfish toffee nosed lifestyles. It is not just royalty; most of those that are telling others they must accept austerity etc. are themselves living the high life at the expense of others. They do little actual real work themselves but get their money from mark-ups. This is of course the same as what is termed skimming when done by the more honest criminal, that accept they are stealing from both those that actually work and those that have to pay more for goods and services produced because of their skimming, whilst those that really produce goods and services get less.

When will laissez-faire liberals and conservative devotees of the Murray Rothbard political theory of “Free Market Anarchism”, and its laisser-faire (anything goes) approach to businesses, realise that markets need strict control via strong governments that are not puppy dogs to the Murray Rothbard political theory or businesses. The idea that markets in any form can replace fair and honest democratic government is ridiculous and akin if not worse to the idea of letting the Mafia run the show.

The bottom line. The 21st century is still seeing qualified construction workers dying on site due to poor workplace conditions and practices. To read that a developed country such as Wales has construction sites that are failing to meet the basic standards of health and safety is appalling. The above BBC article stated that safety recommendations across a third of construction sites had still not been implemented 1 year post inspection. I believe that the sites that had failed to meet requirements should have been shut down until they were brought up to standards.
I chose to evaluate this article as construction is a field of work I have been engaged in for the last 5 years. During this time, I have witnessed multiple breaches of workplace health and safety resulting in severe injury and near death. This is a field of work I would like to pursue in the next 5 years as my work experience has led me to develop ideas to improve current workplace practices and conditions.
