Dr. Laura Markham > Playing with Your Child: Games for Connection and Emotional Intelligence | Growing Healthy Kids and Teens | Scoop.it

"Play can be the long-sought bridge back to that deep emotional bond between parent and child. Play, with all its exuberance and delighted togetherness, can ease the stress of parenting. Playful Parenting is a way to enter a child's world, on the child's terms, in order to foster closeness, confidence, and connection." -- Lawrence Cohen, Playful Parenting*

Dr. Markham offers great ideas for connecting with kids in a creative and playful way to deepen relational connectedness. Brilliant!

Play builds connection, intimacy, flexibity, and problem solving. It isn't just for kids anymore!

Dr. Amy Fuller's curator insight, July 9, 2013 8:28 PM

"Play is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationships fresh and exciting. Playing together for the fun of it brings joy, vitality, and resilience to relationships. Play can also heal resentments, disagreements, and hurts. Through regular play, we learn to trust one another and feel safe. Trust enables us to work together, open ourselves to intimacy, and try new things. By making a conscious effort to incorporate more humor and play into your daily interactions, you can improve the quality of your love relationships- as well as your connections with co-workers, family members, and friends."
