That precocious pup from the Northshore Kennel, Manhatin, pulled off the improbable by completing the journey from Maiden to AA undefeated at a major track, then won his first AA outing on Saturday's matinee at Southland.
The 79-lb. son of Kelsos Fusileer-Bakin made it a perfect 6-for-6 by scooting home late to win by a half-length in 32.14 as the heavy favorite (70-cents to 1 odds).

One of the prized rarities in racing happens when a promising young pup scoots up the grading ladder undefeated--and then wins his or her very first in the track's highest grade. This is especially valued if it's done at one of the major racing venues in the country.
That's exactly what Northshore Kennel's young Manhatin will be trying to do in Saturday's matinee (July 13) at Southland, as he takes his unblemished record up against the Grade AAs for the first time in the 11th race. Tagged as the favorite in the race, Manatin will be running from the 4 box.

Derby Lane fans continue to enjoy solid performances from three exceptional athletes Lily Rose, Venus Espinosa and Call Me Ishmael making their marks again in 2013.
When Gertrude Stein wrote ‘Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose’ in her 1913 poem Sacred Emily, she may not have been writing about greyhound racing, but the meaning most attributed to her poem sums up Randy and Patty Floyd’s double stakes winner Lily Rose. That meaning is when all is said and done, a thing is what it is. And according to Patty Floyd and Lily’s record the 67-pound female is what she is-- “the real deal!”

Hall has since quieted his critics that are taking a second look at the youngster that has his athletes topping the chart.
