Big Sean hit the top ten with 2 new cuts WOLVES & FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. Chloe & Halle entered the top ten with their new remix with the City Girls & Mulatto om DO IT.
Cardi B & Mehan Thee Stallion WAPS is #1 today with over 4000 downloads today. Monica TRENCHES ft Lil Baby is our impact mover at #4... 24KGoldn Moods is still in the top 5 (this cut is on the move....)
Man you can't imagine how many songs I hear a week (for real for real...) so when I hear one that really moves me as a dj, well I'mma tell you that song is built to last.
QUEEN KONG the new single by LightSkin Keisha is a banger. This cut is truly that real club pick up the energy groover that djs are gonna love putting #InTheMix (no matter what I blended it wit, it worked... #GottaGetIt
GetAtMe- HIT HYPE OR TRASH Tom Macdonald's new cut "People So Stupid" is gonna ruffle some feathers in hiphop, and maybe that's not bad... #TruthCreatesGrowth
You know in checking out new music, I'mma tell you at times, it get’s sort of mundane (for Hiphop to be so much about creativity, lately it’s just not that creative...) So, when this cut came across my desk, I’ll admit, I wasn’t really checking for it but after realizing it was sitting at #22 on itunes with over 1140 download before 7 am and over 3.5 million views on YouTube, well I had to give it a look.
When I first heard it, I was like ok, is this guy just trying to be a hiphop Donald Trump/ rapper or is Tom Macdonald just guilty of being too honest (you know old people say “everything that comes to mind don’t need to be said...”). Look Tom is talented (no doubt...) and after looking through some of his other cuts, believe it or not, this guy is incredibly conscience. So why on this song is he looking like an Ozzie Osborne/69 hybrid (yes it was confusing to me also...) You know why? because it works. It got our attention and he made u look (ok he won that one...)
Tom Macdonald may have said every trigger insult there is in this song in the name of honesty, but guess what, maybe honesty is what hiphop is missing right now. I mean a guttural honesty that catches our attention and makes us think (are we homophobic if we don’t want to sleep with a man?). Tom touches a lot of areas and his complaint that maybe we’ve gotten a little to sensitive may be warranted. I mean have we? have we become a society that whomever we disagree with we try to herd cancel them and their opinion? You know that might be a problem also. What I do like about Tom is he seemingly doesn’t give a fuck about the HipHop industry gate keepers (it seems like he’s willing to go toe to toe with them and has no problem with the hate that he may receive). Impressive.
Look before you judge him to be the next antichrist (I almost did) go take a look at some of his other work and I think you’ll appreciate his whole body of work (I was especially impressed with a cut he made called “If I was Black”. This is an interesting and and creatively honest look at how whites would perceive things if they were in our shoes as urban Americans. It’sgood work) I hope that in his quest for gaining attention through shock, that the hiphop community will not miss that his honesty has some merit (even if they don’t agree.
So, with that being said, I’mma give Tom Macdonald “People So Stupid” a grade of HIT. I know there are some that will feel that he’s just hype (those who are not willing to overstand his message...) but for me he did for me something that Hiphopain’t been doing lately, and that is, he took an idea and made it an interesting conversation, and for me, that’s an essential part of hiphop. Even if I don’t agree with him

Man on this mix it took me a moment to get the lineup because on this mix I wanted a real blend of current hits and need to be current hits on this mix, "And then". Tobe Nwigwe TRY JESUS hit online and I knew it had to be on this mix (that's the energy you want djs to have about your music...).
Dababy continues to solidify his stamp in hiphop and Dj KhAled has "another one" with POPSTARS. jack Harlow's camp has done a crazy job of running WHAT'S POPPIN straight to the top of the charts and I have another mix of my BeatMakanixxx djsingle mix SWEAT (this is the "Come On" mix. Enjoy the mix and remember "there's nothing wrong with the music business that good music can't cure..."
GetAtMeTopTen ft DaBaby Rockstar ft Roddy Ricch 7 14 2020 is a RnB / Hip Hop Mix uplaoded by GetAtMe in Jul 2020 - On this GetAtMeTopTen Da Baby takes #1 with ROCKSTAR ft Roddy Ricch (this video really drove this cut to number 1 #TheWalkingDead) We also have some Megan Thee Stallion (2 songs...) I'm really loving The Katy Perry DAISIES and Lady Gaga RAIN. New comers Kamiliah Shani, Gold Mouf and Nita Stunna came in in the HotNewFeatures and the producer Mr Hanky begins his move into having his own singles (and we start out with a cut called WOP by Lil CHuckee) Chris Brown and Young Thug made an interesting pair on Go Crazy and The City Girls and Saweetie make their moves back onto the chart. I have to admit I was really liking the Rockefeller remix on the SOS classic)DO IT RIGHT) DO IT 2 NITE. Great remix on this one. This mix is loaded with a variety of music #ForTheDjNU #Enjoy
This is actually one of the best breakdowns that I've seen. This is very straight and to the point. Artist may have an idea about these cost but usually they are so hyped on the potential of being heard, then they choose to be part of the herd. Artist who try to buck the system are labeled as problematic and are shelved into obscurity. The cost of interest in these deals are rarely made clear and artist's rarely have any idea of their tax structure. But all of this villinasation should not all land at the labels feet. The real blame are artist's ,managers and professional staffs.. Usually the labels are just protecting their interest and trying to cover their previous bad bets (as they should in an effort to get their investors money back...). Managers have to make sure that they have real leverage when negotiating with a label, not just potential value (just being real). Its easy to say I got cheated but the real is maybe some of these artists were in "rent to own" fame situations from the very jump and never had the real leverage they imagined they had..
Licensing people really have no concept of the dj artist relationship. Dj break records way before radio (most of the time if radio ain't already on it, it only get's broke if a street dj is playing it...) When a licensing group strikes a dj on an online site, usually the relationship that's damaged is the dj /artist relationship (most of the time in an irreparable manner...) Heed this warning
1st off let me say, this is a very intimate video. This video was damn near a real treatment for a movie (would love to see someone do this as a youtube webisode... #HintHint) This remake by Kygo of Tina Turner’s classic WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT is nice.
As it shoots to number one on itunes in one day with over 2660 download off the bat, this great new video starring Laura Harrier & Charles Michael Davis is definitely a winner. To cast 2 up and coming faces in Hollywood was a great idea. Laura Harrier is definitely a great new face, you’ll remember her from the Spiderman film as Peter Parker’s high school interest and Charles Michael Davis is know for his television appearances on NCIS New Orleans and Greys Anatomy. Great faces, great move.
This video gave an up and close look at these two young peoples relationship and the strengths and vulnerabilities in their relationships (the subtitles as thoughts were an excellent idea...) This video was put together so well.
Track 3.8pts- this track is a classic and Kygo made sure that the original was the main focus of the song by only flavoring it a bit with beats and turnarounds throughout the song...
PERFORMANCE 4.2pts- When Tina Turner did this cut, the passion and emotion will never be able to be replicated. I’m glad they used her vocals
MUSCLE 3.2PTS- The streets are not gonna be all over this cut because in satellite this cut is gonna sound a lot like the original but the buzz will be for real...
JUICE- 3.8pts- Radio should be all over this cut but this definitely will be a wait and see...
HIT FACTOR- 3.7pts- This video is the real seller. Kygo has a strong dance following so expect all kinds of remixes and mashups on this cut. The video although sets the tone...
TOTAL 3.74 pts out of 5pts (HEAT) This cut is definitely in the heat section right under hot. Tina Turner has the face card but Kygo is the current face. It will be interesting to see how the Kygo/Tina Turner partnership delivers. They have a great song and great faces. it is definitely gonna be interesting.
Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the music business that good music can’t cure...”
On this mix we feature an up and coming artist Ahsh Eff along with two of the hottest new artist and song s out now. Ahsh is dropping new music now but we liked this freestyle so much that we dod a BeatMAKANIXXX remix. Also on this 3PcSnack we have the new Cardi B WAPS ft Megan Thee Stallion and the new Saweetie TAP IN (you can't lose with the Blow The Whistle break..) That's this edition GetAtMe3pcSnack #GetAtMe #ItsAboutTheMusic
Kamilah Shani is all in in doing this music thing (she's going for it...) This NY word smith has a new single CERTIFIED and the BeatMakanixxx was really feeling her energy so this is the DjSingleMix
This Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion record WAPS has come out of nowhere. This slow grinding beat has the initial making of a hit record. Megan has created a way of staying relevant by featuring with acts that will keep her relevant. This cut with Cardi was an excellently executed move. Here’s the Stats:
Track 2.9pts- this track (with the repeat anthem “there’s some hoes in this house”) is a thumping slow groove that works (good)...
PERFORMANCE 4.1pts- Cardi and Megan did their thing on this cut. These lyrics are cleverly raunchy. The message “CERTIFIED FREAK’ is unapologetically delivered (Hot)...
MUSCLE 5.0PTS- The muscle on this cut is crazy (it went right to #10 on itunes day one. This was just on pre pub online. That’s crazy (Hit)...
JUICE- 3.7pts- Its going to be interesting to see how radio handles this very sexually provocative cut #Hmmm (Heat)...
HIT FACTOR- 4.6pts- This video starts the conversation and will be able to get these two females a lot of attention (Cardi is crazy fine in that leopard joint) (hot)...
TOTAL 4.06 pts out of 5pts (HOT)This cut has jumped out the gate as a smash (can it keep that momentum?) This video will get this cut momentum in the streets and the mixtape. The question will be is this cut to slow for the clubs to get real energy? Radio will support this cut, the question is how long and can they get past the sexual content (I know in this day and time it hard to believe that that will even be an issue...) This is a good cut, #LetsGo

The day has come to make a video about the music record industry. In a billion dollar industry, somehow the talent walks away with very little. In this video, I share with you how money flows in the music industry, why your favorite musicians are broke, and why you'll constantly hear musicians complaining about their record deal or record label.
The central point of this video is the 360 deal, aka the 360 contract. This contract allows for the record label to dip their hands in everything an artist does. The record labels typically fool young and naive artists to sign a 360 deal when they have no leverage and are in need of the money.
They gladly accept the record advance because they've never seen money like that before. But it isn't long before they realize that the advance is recoupable, meaning the label will receive the money back through future royalty payments.
This is how artists can sell millions of albums and still go bankrupt. When they receive a huge advance, most artists want to go spend the money. But the label counts the advance as money that should be going towards production of the album. When the album is finally released, the label will get their cut first. Then from the artists' cut, the advance will be paid back.
In some scenarios, the artist isn't able to sell enough to pay back the recoupable expenses. This leaves the artist in debt to the label. The label will take the first profit from touring, merchandise sales, etc in order to recoup their money.
A vicious cycle can be created. Sometimes artists will even be shelved because the label no longer believes in them and doesn't want to invest the money into promoting the artist. The artist is now stuck with a signed record deal and they can't put out music.
