Yesi Ortiz was born and raised in Orange County, Los Angeles
and Tijuana were her playground. Music would be an escape
from reality for Yesi and with such a passion for it she began
taking broadcasting classes. 6 months into school she landed
a weekend gig in radio in Las Vegas. No stranger to hard
work Yesi would commute from Long Beach to Las Vegas
every weekend just to be on-air then back to school and a
9-5 job on Monday. Yesi spent 2 years in Las Vegas and
landed a position at a new San Diego radio station rocking
7 to midnight. Yesi had to move into Tijuana, Mexico just
to afford an apartment. Luckily a radio station across the border was looking to fill a morning show position andYesi became the brand new co-host of AJ's Playhouse in San Diego. It was always her dream to come back to LA working at Power 106 and that day came 1 year later. Yesi now rock's the mic daily on Power 106 from 10a to 3p. During those hours you'll also hear the Oldskool Show at Noon with Jeff Garcia and DJ Mikee Mike, andYesi host's LA's most popular show for new music and exclusive interviews, The New @ 2 Mix with the Heavy Hitter DJ Felli Fel mixing live.
Yesi Ortiz is an Oprah freak and watches it religiously everyday! She counts her blessings everyday and knows the struggles of life. Support from her family is what helped her succeed, she does it for them as her family did for her growing up. Power 106 listeners are extended family members in her eyes so reach out to her. This cut has grown on me ( a video always helps a song). Nicki's verse is hot. This cut might get traction because of the BET performance and it grows on you. Here's the stats
THE TRACK- 3($$$) Its cool, it rides
THE PERFORMANCE- 4($$$$) Nicki really brought it on this cut. Ciara does her thing
MUSCLE- 2($$) The BET perfomance will put this cut om front street (that's only a three week window lately)
JUICE- 2($$) We'll have to see what radio gonna do
TIMING- 3($$$) The BET performance was game changing. So let's see what the impact will be
THE SONG- 3($$$) I like this song but radio will hold its destiny
TOTAL- 17pts out of 30 (C grade)
This song will do well with teen Females (12-17) and young female (18-24). The trick is will they buy. The issue here is that this song sounds so much like a Beyonce song. Ciara need to create her own sound. She allowing producers to control her destiny. It's about the artist not the producers. That why our urban sales are so off, it's because everything sounds the same because the producers all sound alike. Ciara can have her own sound for her own fans. #IJS
Ciara can rise above the pack. Until then this song will have to do.
