Apple vs motorola patents lawsuit Apple wins over Motorola in patent copyright issue Samsung Apple Motorola Siri court hearing ban on imports iPhone... This week has been lucky for Apple as it seems pretty clear that Apple's win over Samsung has been a tough one. Apple has recently won the lawsuit against Samsung for infringing the intellectual property of the company by illicitly using its patents. The trail ended with Samsung being ordered to pay Apple over 1.05 Billion in compensation for copying Apple's patented designs of iPhone and iPad. Recently Google has filed a lawsuit that Apple has violated several patents of Motorola in making the voice assistant Siri which happens to be the aggressive marketing source for Apple. If the allegations are proved to be true, the results could be devastating for Apple as it could lead in the permanent ban of iPhone in the United States. Further more, Apple would have to pay heavy compensation to Motorola (Now Google) for the losses and the lawsuit charges. Call it a lucky day for Apple as the judge has ordered further investigation in the issue instead of imposing immediate ban on the sales of iPhone. This, however might infuriate Google with the ball landing in the wrong court. The ITC says that upon an initial determination, Apple may have infringed on a non-standard essential patent, which could potentially lead to an import ban. In particular, the said patent is for the “sensor controlled user interface for portable communication device.”
The ITC, however, has decided to remand further action and investigation on the matter to Administrative Law Judge Thomas B. Pender, reports FOSS Patents.
Apple was cleared with respect to three of Motorola’s patents-in-suit, including the aforementioned standard-essential one. But with respect to U.S. Patent No. 6,246,862 on a “sensor controlled user interface for portable communication device”, a non-standard-essential patent, the investigation was remanded to Administrative Law Judge Thomas B. Pender. The judge had found claim 1 of that patent indefinite and, as a result, not violated. The ITC has reversed his indefiniteness finding. As a result, there could (but need not) be a finding of a violation with respect to this patent, and an import ban.
With Apple's patent war with Samsung just coming to an end, seems like there are others who are more interesting in bringing Apple to the courts of law. If the initial investigations prove that Apple has abruptly copied the Motorola patents then the result would lead to an immediate ban on imports. From now on, its just a wait and watch game for Apple and Motorola.

Apple's iPad mini to come in october Apple asks suppliers to be ready for mass production of mini iPads. Earlier we shared that Apple is planning to launch a 7.85 inch iPad mini that will be competing with Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire. Bloomberg has also confirmed that Apple is indeed going to launch a new iPad which would be slightly smaller that the current iPad which is 9.7 inch diagonally. Apple is apparently going to launch the new iPad mini with a smaller screen size and will be using IGZO display which give high brightness in a thinner display. The rumors are mounting up as the Wall street journal reported that Apple is telling its suppliers to be prepared for mass production that will supply Apple iPad mini's components. Apple's component suppliers for iPad mini are LG Display Co. and AU Optronics Co. The two companies are likely to be the suppliers for the new iPad mini that we might see in October this year. It has also been rumored that the new iPad mini would be priced in between $199 - $299 that will be directly aiming at Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle. Apple's iPad has already conquered the tablet market globally and with iPad mini as an analyst said, would bring back Amazon's Kindle and Google's Nexus 7 to the point that they might expunge out just as in the case of iPad 2 and iPad 3. Apple's decision to go head on with Google seems like the differences between the two companies is filling in with competitive advantage over another.

ITC denied Apple's request to impose ban on HTC devices Apple's Plea to ban htc devices rejected Apple seeks injunction of HTC device in United Sates talks on August... Apple has recently won a big lawsuit filed against Samsung for infringement of Apple's Patents by blatantly copying not just the hardware of iPhone and iPad but also the UI and the extent of infrigement is that they even copied the packing and make the Samsung device look quite alot like that of Apple's iPad packing. The result is that Samsung Galaxy Tab is now banned in United States and that Samsung shall not promote any kind of selling of Galaxy tab in the United States which includes any kind of promotion or marketing. Following victory over Samsung, Apple quickly filed a patent violation suit against HTC to ITC requesting for an emergency ban on its android devices. The patent violation with HTC devices is the use of Apple's data detectors patent which was earlier used in HTC android devices. However, HTC to avoid any damages, quickly responded by making the necessary changes. Despite the fact that HTC has changed the device, Apple still thinks that HTC is using data detectors that are patents of Apple. Apple's plea to ITC to inspect and impose an injunction over HTC android devices was not granted: Here is what ITC Commisison said : “The commission finds that Apple has not demonstrated the propriety of temporary emergency action here,” the agency reportedly said. “The commission will not direct Customs to detain all subject HTC products because the commission does not have the information necessary to determine whether the respondents are currently violating the commission’s limited exclusion order.”
The court has also ordered Apple and HTC to discuss the issue and that the talks will begin in late August. If Apple wins the injunction over HTC devices, it will adversely affect the sales of HTC as a majority of sales come from the United States and if the ban is imposed, HTC will have no good reason to survive with its most potential zone being lost. HTC have also reported that competition with iPhone4S was quite a challenging task and HTC faced heavy loss because of customers preferences shifting from HTC to Apple.

Before I/O it was rumored that Google would be launching a new tablet that would be competing with Apple's iPad. It was also rumored that the tablet would be priced at as low as $199 and will be manufactured by Asus, the very same company that manufactured the innovative transformer prime powered with Tegra. Well as it turns out Google is not behind Apple, after all. Instead Google's Nexus 7 is targetting those customers who would rather buy Amazon's Kindle Fire. Kindle has so far been very successful with its low and affordable price range. Kindle is mostly used by those individuals who spend a lot of time in quality reading so basically its an e-book reading 7 inch tablet. With Google's Nexus7, Amazon will face severe threat as the flexibility that a user can experience in Android cannot be experienced else where. Amazon app store is not as strong and happening place as Google's Play where there are over 500,000 apps. Also, because it is a Google product there is no point is arguing about the quality of service. Google has also started a limited offer for Nexus7 purchases. Evey Nexus 7 will come shipped with Transformers movie, songs and some magazines that can be enjoyed. Nexus 7 has really good features which are currently unavailable in Kindle Fire. If you are a kindle user, we think its the right time you think about buying Google Nexus 7. It is very likely that with Nexus 7, Google has plans to set Kindle on Fire.

Apple Wins Injunction over Galaxy Tab Samsung to stop selling galaxy tab in US Apple vs Samsung Patent wars Samsung Galaxy tab is copied product of Apple's iPhone and iPad from hardware to Ui and even packaging. Apple and Samsung wars continue and took a step further when Samsung copied Apple's Siri in its latest smartphone GalaxySIII. According to Apple, samsung has copied the voice assistant feature from Apple's iPhone4S and named it S-Voice. There is a redundancy in the process. Samsung copies Apple, apple in turn files a lawsuit and eventually restricts the sales of those particular models in selected regions. This time, the senator gave a decision in Apple's favour declaring that Samsung Galaxy Tab design is indeed copied from Apple iPad and iPhone design that is copyrighted and the design for which Apple has patents. Apple has previously won ban against Samsung products over different regions globally. “Although Samsung has a right to compete, it does not have a right to compete unfairly, by flooding the market with infringing products,” Koh wrote in her order, adding that the strength of Apple’s case on the merits left her no choice but to grant the injunction. “While Samsung will certainly suffer lost sales from the issuance of an injunction, the hardship to Apple of having to directly compete with Samsung’s infringing products outweighs Samsung’s harm in light of the previous findings by the Court.” - AllThingsD
AllThingsD has also received a reply from Apple which says - “It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging. This kind of blatant copying is wrong and, as we’ve said many times before, we need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas." If Samsung fails to provide enough evidence that the hardware, UI and packaging of Galaxy Tab is not copied from iPad and iPhone, Samsung will have to stop its sales of Galaxy Tab in the US market.

Operating System The Apple iPhone 5 may most probably run with the latest software, the iOS6, featuring a fourth-generation long-term evolution to give a speedier mobile internet connectivity and data transfer rate. Advantages for users are clearer and crisper voice and video calls. This updated operating system may as well incorporate 3D imaging capabilities, giving more excitement to users. Not quite matching for equivalence is version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS of the Optimus 4X HD. LG’s contender runs on this latest version of Google's Android. Apple Noise Cancellation Feature Is stolen from Noise Free files patent violation lawsuit against Apple Apple sued over for sharing business secrets and violating patents of noise free... Apple is known for protecting its intellectual property rights by dragging the violators to the courts of law and suing them and forcing a ban on those products that infringe its patented designs. According to Apple, its not just suing the competitors but protecting the intellectual property rights of Apple which is mandatory. Following the recent patent infringements by various Samsung products, Apple seems to have got quite a good hold with quality lawyers fighting against the bad guys. It was also heard that Google is uniting with Samsung to fight against Apple's law suits against Galaxy Nexus. Seems like there is someone strong enough to bring Apple to the courts of law for stealing the design and technology. Noise Free Wireless has accused Apple of using (stealing) noise cancellation technology that is currently used in iPhones. It has filed a patent violation lawsuit against Apple for using its patented and copyrighted design for noise cancellation that was registered back in 2007 US Patent No. 7742790 The company claims that Apple stole the idea of noise cancellation which was once demonstrated by Noise free to Apple in September 2007.
"On further information and belief, Apple provided Audience with Noise Free's confidential trade secret information to assist Audience in delivering a noise cancellation solution that was similar and/or identical to the solution that Noise Free designed," the suit alleged.
Noise free claims that terms with Apple went very well and it was planned to add noise cancellation in the upcoming iPhones. Based on that, both the companies continued meeting even in 2008 and Noise free had even shared confidential data with Apple like the user guide on how to implement noise cancellation. Also, it had provided Apple with a fully functional circuit board along with a phone on which the technology was implemented. A documentation on technology was also shared with Apple.

With Apple there are always rumors before the release of every new product or occurence of any event. This time it is for iPad Mini. It has been rumored that since Google has launched a 7 inch Nexu7 tablet to compete with Amazon's Kindle Fire, its seems pretty reasonable that Apple might launch one too. To gain more control over tablet market, Apple might launch a mini iPad version to attract those consumers who are willing to spend less on a tablet. MyDrivers.com has confirmed that Apple will indeed launch a 7.85 inch iPad later this year with a IGZO Display - Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide that will give a thinner and brighter display. The thinkness of the mini iPad is likely to be of the same thinkness as iPad 2 and the new iPad. Earlier, it was rumored that Apple would be using these IGZO displyas in The New iPad3 but apprently these were not ready by that time. Digitimes also reports that Apple might replac the current iPad display with IGZO but have considered that the news to be unreliable. Don't put your hope on this one until you hear more about it. If at all Apple launches an iPad with smaller display, will it be supporting GSM carrier ? Nothing can be said right now and even if its going to be a GSM iPad then its very likely to be locked on specific carriers like AT&T.

Apple has added Siri in the latest iOS, what's sad it that Siri works only on iPhone4S. Spire Cydia tweak has a solution to fix this problem. Spire is a amazing tweak that allows non iPhone4S users to install Siri over all iOS devices including iPhone3GS, iPhone4, iPads and iPods. Many iOS users have enjoyed Spire tweak until iOS 5.1.1 was released.
Spire does not support iOS 5.1.1 and will never work on 5.1.1. The developer, @chpwn who ported Siri on non supported devices in the form of spire has confirmed on twitter that it will not work on iOS5.1.1 and will not work in future too. Sad, but its the end of Siri for non iPhone4S users. Apple does not host a decrypted copy of Siri for iOS5.1 which it did for earlier firmware. The only supported version of spire is iOS5.0.1
Spire Siri Port For iOS 5.1.1 - Not Supported I've Already Installed Spire - Should I Uninstall It ?
Don't! Doing so will put your iPhone iPad and iPod into stuck on Apple Boot Logo and there is no fix for that. Many users have installed spire port and when they found that it doesn't work on iOS5.1.1, they tried uninstalling it and when the device rebooted, it got stuck in apple boot logo loop.
Take a backup of your device data and then restore it. Users who have tried uninstalling it directly without taking a backup have lost their data. Don't do the same mistake. Take a back up, simply connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod to iTunes then right click over your device in iTunes and then select the option, back up my device.
I've Not Tried Spire Yet - Can I Try It ?
It doesn't work. So, unless you want to slow down the performance of your device drastically, you shouldn't install it. Installing spire is not a problem but many users have experienced troubles uninstalling spire from their devices which ultimately caused their devices to stuck in boot logo loop

Restore it! Truth is always bitter - You might have to restore your device unless any tool is released to fix the boot process. @Chpwn, has already made a clear announcement over Twitter that Spire will not work on iOS5.1.1

I don't think so, no. Until Apple magically starts hosting a decrypted copy of siri, there is no legal way to get Siri on non supported devices.

What's even more exciting is that in case of traffic or congestion, the eta will automatically get updated. iOS6 is a phenomenal release for developers and will continue to improve.
