Apple is introducing a new iMac model today with a $1,099 price point. That’s $200 less than the usual starting price for Apple’s all-in-one computer, and it follows a similar price cut given to...
Tempting but not sure about the lack of RAM and the low CPU...

For open source developer Johannes Ernst, what the world really needs is a simple device that anyone can use to take their data back from the wilds of the internet.
Beyond data ownership, having a personal server is an interesting concept to get greater flexibility from various apps. I'd be surprised it gets mainstream though - at a time when even companies with comprehensive IT teams are moving to the cloud.

SkyRunner is a dune buggy and a power parachute in one. After almost three years in development, it is on track to hit the market later this year.
Elegant answer to the flying car problem.

Google has announced that it's working with the Luxottica Group to bring designer frames to Glass.
Attempt at going mainstream. But still awkward?
Google glass can obviously give us a new way of life. Like others wearable device, Google glass uses technology to help us to deal with working and daily life information easier, although it is a little gross than a normal glass currently.
This makes me wonder if the digitization of graphic literature will further degrade the field. Physical ownership of graphic literature has become a vague concept these days, and if I read the buyers agreements on digital copies, you don't ever actually own the copy, you get to view it a set number of times. While these glasses may make being a Hipster seem cool, do they actually serve a purpose for those who read, or are they just another gimmick to sell tech?

"Context."
Larry Page is on stage at TED right now. I'm at home watching.
He is not wearing Google Glass.
Excellent rant by Robert Scoble on Google Glass. That product is already getting old without having even been launched and lack of CEO support is definitely worrying. I've been skeptical on this project since I first heard of it 2 years ago: primarily because I had doubts about Google being the right company to bring that change.
As a gadget nerd, I's still love to be proven wrong though.

What's next for iPhone? What could be more convenient than solar power?

Introducing iPhone Air Additional technical specification available here: http://www.theverge.com/2014/3/9/5488574/iphone-air-8-larger-device-17-larger-displ...
The execution of this concept is pretty neat but if this is all the innovation we'll get in the iPhone 6, I'd be disappointed. True, smartphones have been a maturing market but I still want more from them than just getting thinner and lighter.

Gábor Balogh is a freelance designer from Hungary who, like many of us, wants an attractive, watch-like watch that just happens to be smart. The difference between Balogh and the rest of us is he went ahead and designed an interface he believes could enable regular watch designs to include a full bevy of smart features.
There's still a lot to invent in terms of UX design for smartwatches. This design concept is interesting as it brings some ideas of what the use cases could be.
Wearable technology is not just a cool idea. It's no longer bulky and unappealing, it's sleak and it's fashionable.
This is one of the best article I found on internet. It explain that how can be a normal wrist-watch converted in a smart-watch. Which will have all the mobile computational power. This watch could have maps, internet, media and internet capabilities.

With the introduction of new technology there's the first products and then there's the one's that are introduced in next phase. Here's the next phase of Google Glass- Google Glass with presecriptions.

Asteroids barreled towards Earth from every direction, and my only defense was my eyes. I looked at one asteroid. I looked at another. Boom. Boom. Lasers from Earth had blown them into smithereens. And I didn’t lift a finger.
A good summary of all the innovation in gestural computing that were introduced - someitmes as prototypes - at CES this year. Minority report is getting closer but as Ellis Hamburger reports, the main applications are likely to be gaming and safe driving for the next few years. Just like Leap Motion's example is showing.

It looks like Microsoft was right to worry about Google's Chromebook project. According to the latest numbers from NPD, Chromebooks accounted for 21% of laptops sales.
Have to admit the concept of a light network computer is appealing. A growing number of people don't want a sophisticated machine but a curated, simpler experience.
What announcements will we hear from the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas coming up about the next big things?

PowerShell adds console-style controls to your iPhone or iPod Touch, and a built-in battery doubles the power capacity of your iPhone.
This iPhone game controller looks like a pretty neat accessory for serious gamers, integrating controls with additional battery. My gaming is mostly on the iPad though so I think I'll pass.
But if we needed signs that the iOS platform is killing the PSP and other portable game consoles, this is a very concrete one.

Pencil by FiftyThree is a revolutionary stylus for touch-screen devices. Use Pencil with Paper for iPad to express your ideas beautifully and easily.
I've used Paper by 53 to doodle and it grew on me. I now try to draw when I travel or have spare time (not too often unfortunately...). Have to say styluses are highly recommended for iPad painting - even though Steve Jobs mocked them when launching the iPad and made clear the device wouldn't need any.
Will try this out!
When Steve Jobs launched the iPad he mocked styluses and made sure everybody understood you wouldn't need one. But a few years later we now have professional artists like David Hockney who became iPad painters (currently at the de Young museum for fellow San Franciscans) and if you tried to draw on the iPad (like I grew to like it), having a good stylus really makes a difference.
After launching Paper, an an awesome app for drawing on the iPad - the best I've tried - 53 is now introducing a stylus that doesn't look engineered by techies but by artists. With a reasonable price point and a great App, this could be the start of a creative ecosystem that could make drawing and painting a more mainstream activity on tablest.
absolutely awesome looking pen, too bad it will only work (with all features) on paper53 which I use only infrequently.

"Coin is a connected device that can hold and behave like the cards you already carry. Coin works with your debit cards, credit cards, gift cards, loyalty cards and membership cards. Instead of carrying several cards you carry one Coin. Multiple accounts and information all in one place."
A VC friend was telling me yesterday: "Finance is where the next big innovations will come from" - and then this.
This looks like genius simple. Pre-ordered one just now.
My dream would be to get rid of my wallet and my keys and be able to do everything with just my phone.
We're getting closer.
I was waiting for that for quite a while!!!
This looks really interesting, but riases some questions - will retailers accept it with no sidniture strip? Can the waiter change which card is being used after you hand it over? What is the security like on both loading the cards onto the Coin and storing them within Coin?
Be really good if they can get it released and it is secure enough - ditch the thick purse!

Glass can now be used to search for songs, scan through saved playlists and listen to music in high fidelity.
Google is still trying to explore a whole range of applications for Google Glass.
Not clear to me whether some killer apps have emerged yet. Music seems a long shot to me as (i) it's already massively covered by smartphones, iPods, etc... (ii) it's by definition not so much visual (iii) it requires additional earbuds that will make the whole set up cumbersome.
Or am I missing anything?

By Eric Newcomer - One of the most important questions about the future of computing is this: wrist or face? Google has been trumpeting its Glass devices, which can take photos and run applications like Facebook and Twitter on a small screen within eyesight. Apple, which is working on a secret smartwatch, has been publicly pushing the case for the wrist.
Of course the big caveat of this study is that it's very hard for consumers to project themselves using new devices they haven't discovered yet. The story of the iPad is a good example of that. But it's an interesting data point in the coming glass vs watch battle in the Apple / Google war.

I have something to get off my chest: I live in New Jersey, so by definition that makes me a "Jersey driver". I’ve never thought of myself as the sort of Manically aggressive road warrior.
The Automatic car dongle that let's you know how good or bad a driver you are by getting feedback directly from your car is getting a good review on TechCrunch where Chris Velazco calls it the FitBit for your car.
I'm not sure I want such a robotic backseat driver myself but I don't drive enough anymore to really care. I'd love the SF Muni bus drivers to have one though...

With the latest Retina display MacBook Pro, Apple makes a number of thoughtful refinements to what was already a stellar notebook. The result is one of the best laptops on the market right now.
I don't need a new laptop but this review makes me wish Apple had a MacBook Air with retina display. Wouldn't that be the best combination?

Looks crazy. But apparently it's not. Wonder how soon we'll see @Marc Rougier drive one...
