Khalil Lucas's curator insight, February 14, 2016 12:30 AM

I have chosen this scoop for my topic due to lending another helpful reason. There is much controversy about "the kick drum" within our industry. Wether it needs to be the loudest, most prominent, and/ or the driving force of the entire track. Without a doubt, I definitely agree with the fact that the kick drum is highly important and its prominence can either make or break a mix. However, we also need to take into consideration how dangerous a kick drum can be to a mix. Most kicks usually hit around the ranges of 25-500hz. This range is where most of our "mud" comes from. With this being said, most mixing and/ or mastering engineers fail here because they are not mindful of this. I  agree that the kick should be rich and drive the track but we have to be mindful to the fact that it definitely has the potential to boost those nasty frequencies that sound nice and grimy with the kick soloed but horrible in the mix. Therefore, learning how to improve the sound of our kick drums will help us in our overall mixing and mastering stages. For this helpful reason I have chosen this scoop for my topic.

Tip: How and Why to Move Your Logic Pro X Sound Libraries to an External Drive

Tip: How and Why to Move Your Logic Pro X Sound Libraries to an External Drive | G-Tips: Logic Pro | Scoop.it
Dj Ghostfader's insight:

Logic Pro X ships with a brand-new sound library including many updated Apple loops and sample instruments. However when you install your sound libraries, you’re not given the option to install any of them to a different hard drive as you were in past versions of Logic Pro. Taking advantage of Folder Aliases inside of OS X, it is still possible to transfer the bulk of your Logic Pro X sample and Apple Loop libraries to a different hard drive.
