Some guys are really really lucky. They don't discover a haunted city-state, or a land full of unfriendly natives, no, they discover paradisiacal islands. Example, Samuel Wallis (1728-1795) who 'discovered' Tahiti and other islands such as Wallis (french island) wich was named in his honour. Yeah, that's pretty unfair, why haven't we ever discovered such a beautiful place ?!

This triple waterfall was discovered  in 1952 by French entomologist but fully mapped only in 80's. Unfortunately there is precise description of the discovery.

It is located in Lebanon in the district of Batroun.

Edith Durham took care of her sick mother after the death of her dad. It exhausted her and she went abroad to recuperate. This is why she went to southern Balkans and embraced their cause. She wrote several books, the most famous being High Albanis (1909). She studied the customs and the society of this fascinating area of the world.

Born i n1868 in Wisconsin, Edward Sheriff Curtis worked as a photographer since 18991. In he decided to photograph the Natives to preserve their culture. His goal was reached in 1930 through the "North American Indian"  which includes about 40 000 photographes from 80 different peoples.

The link is related to a website displaying his work.

Curtis died in 1952 in California.
