SlimLinux has a number of applications available to run via a variety of AppPacks (router/firewall, dhcp/dns/web server, vpn connector, dumb terminal). It currently requires a minimum hardware configuration of the following components for the base system: 386 processor, 8MB ram, 1.44MB floppy

New features allow admin to provide masquerading services on a network by network basis.Firewall - Uses ipchains to enable the administrator to write powerful firewall scripts. This package also contains the ipfwadm toolset.IDS - NMAP provides security scanner. We also plan to add other utilities (like Snort and Tripwire) for a complete Intrusion Detection Station.DHCP - Uses dhcpd daemon to automatically assign ip address on selected networks.DNS - Uses scaled-down bind to run dns server.Web - Uses mini http daemon to provide webserver. This package also contains a perl4 package (we are working on scaling-down perl5 to fit in an embedded environment).VPN - Provides complete VPN client and server. Ideal solution for network to network VPNs.SlimTerminal - Provides Xserver client package to make a dumb thin terminal. You can access any X based server via SMB, NFS, RCP, or SCP (secure copy). Our ezWorkgroup product is a great server solution for this setup. We plan to add Citrix, VNC, and Microsoft Terminal Server clients to this package in the future.

NetStation is a linux distribution for diskless thin clients terminals using standard x86 hardware. It can boot from network, floppy or flash-disk and connect to an application server using VNC, RDP, XDM, SSH, Telnet or Citrix ICA.

tsclient (Terminal Server Client) is a frontend for rdesktop and other remote desktop tools, which allow remotely controlling one computer from another. It is a GNOME application. Notable visual options include color depth, screen size, and motion blocking. Features include: a GNOME panel applet to quickly launch saved profiles, sound support, similar look and functionality to the Microsoft client and compatibility with its file format, interface translated into more than 20 languages, and support for rdesktop 1.3, Xnest and VNC clients (*vncviewer). There are two different Versions in use.

ZipSlack is a special edition of Slackware Linux that can be installed onto any FAT (or FAT32) filesystem with about 100 MB of free space. It uses the UMSDOS filesystem and contains most of the programs you will need. This means that you do not need to repartition your hard disk if you already have DOS or Windows installed. ZipSlack installs into a directory on your DOS filesystem. It can also be installed to and booted from a Zip disk. This distribution is ideal for people who don't have a lot of hard disk space, do not have a fast Internet connection to download the entire distribution, or who want a Linux distribution they can carry around on a Zip disk.

Zenwalk's Standard Edition is a complete GNU/Linux operating system for both Desktops and Laptop/Notebook systems but is also easily customizable for use in servers and multimedia centers. Out of the box, you will be able to browse, mail, chat, listen to music, program in C, Perl, Python, Ruby,.. watch videos in various formats, write documents, print, scan, burn CD and DVD, connect your camera and edit your photographs, without adding anything. Coders will like the full set of development libraries and interpreters.

Thinstation is a basic and small, yet very powerful, Open Source "thin client" operating system supporting all major connectivity protocols: Citrix ICA, NoMachine NX, 2X ThinClient, Microsoft Windows terminal services (RDP, via RDesktop), VMWareView Open client, Cendio ThinLinc, Tarantella, X, telnet, tn5250, VMS terminal and SSH (No special configuration of the application servers is needed to use Thinstation).
Whilst Thinstation is based on Linux, users may actually never see Linux at all. If you decide to connect directly to a Microsoft Windows,Citrix or Unix server, the user will feel that they are running directly on the server. But, you can also have a local Desktop interface (with a local Browser & other tools).
Thinstation supports a Microsoft Windows-only environment and REQUIRES NO UNIX/Linux KNOWLEDGE.
Thinstation runs on ordinary PC hardware (32/64 bit i686 class). You may either reuse older computers or save a lot of time on workstation administration. Or both! An old Pentium-II with 128 MB RAM or better can be a perfectly useful workstation.
And you don't need a hard disk - you can boot off the network and even have a silent workstation. Workstation devices (floppy/HD/CD/USB) and printers (LPT/USB) are supported. Thinstation can be booted from network (e.g. diskless) using Etherboot/PXE or from a local floppy/CD/HD/flash-disk, and prebuilt images and a Live CD are available. The thin client configuration can be local or centralized to simplify management.
