The rising incidence and influence of shareholder activism is becoming a factor in CFO searches, as many public company CEOs and boards increasingly favor seasoned candidates with investor relations (IR) experience for CFO positions, says Joel von Ranson, who leads executive recruiter Spencer Stuart’s Financial Officer practice in North America.
