Wow...only $60 million in revenue.  This is paltry compared to most of our major ports around the country.  In addition, it is noteworthy the Port of New Orleans seems to be doing very little to modernize/reduce their environmental impact.  Replace 35 trucks?  Really?

Yet another example of the problems we can have when contracts are granted with little scrutiny or oversight.  

Even shifting the time of shifts could save millions per year.

Ports are key centers of trade and economic activity, but all too often are hampered by contracts and polices such as these which benefit a few rather than helping the greater populace and weighing down these important institutions.
