Events Event Details JAAOS Plus Webinar: Posterior Correction Techniques for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Format:Webinars Credits: 1.00 CME This webinar is an AAOS Member Benefit! AAOS Members attend for free. Webinar Director: Alpesh A. Patel, MD, MBA, FAAOS Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis represents a complex, three-dimensional deformity of the spine. Posterior spinal fusion is commonly performed in severe cases to avoid the long-term adverse sequelae associated with progressive spinal deformity. The goals of spinal fusion include halting the progression of deformity, optimizing spinal balance, and minimizing complications. Recent advances in short-segment spinal fixation have allowed for improved three-dimensional deformity correction. Preoperative planning and assessment of spinal flexibility is essential for successful deformity correction and optimization of long-term outcomes. Judicious use of releases and/or spinal osteotomies may allow for increased mobility of the spine but are associated with increased surgical time, blood loss, and risk of complications. Appreciation of implant design and material properties is critical for safe application of correction techniques. Although multiple reduction techniques have been described, no single technique is optimal for every patient.   Faculty: Daniel Miller, MD; Patrick Cahill, MD, FAAOS; Michael Vitale, MD, MPH, FAAOS; Suken Shah, MD, FAAOS   The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. How to use the screen display function in training? Suppose you learn how to create sites in webinars. Show your screen and demonstrate what you are doing. And then give the participants a few minutes to try and repeat after you. If a lot of people participate in the webinar, then, of course, you will not be able to check the work of everyone at once. Instead, suggest this option: the first 5 people who complete the task will receive a detailed comment from you on their work. Help fix the mistakes and emphasise what was done well. Thanks to this, you activate the participants and show typical mistakes.

COVID-19: Current Challenges in ILD | European Respiratory Society

COVID-19: Current Challenges in ILD | European Respiratory Society | CME-CPD | Scoop.it
The various topics included in the general theme of "Current Challenges in ILD" will allow an update of knowledge on new concepts that will occupy the agenda of interstitial lung disease in the near future. The concept of progressive fibrotic disease currently leads us to a look at the clinic disease behaviour of ILD, with a significant impact on monitoring, prognosis and above all on the therapeutic perspectives of several clinical entities that until recently was not included in ILD. COVID-19's impact on pulmonary fibrosis is now beginning to be framed, given the consequences of the pandemic in patients with previous interstitial lung disease and also the potential development of fibrotic changes de novo after SARS-Cov-2 infection. This issue will remain on the clinical agenda in the near future. The possibility and the need to have our patients monitored outside the hospital has been reinforced in the context of the current pandemic, so it is extremely important to update concepts with tools that will allow patients at risk to be protected and monitored at the same time. Educational aims To internalise the need to approach patients with ILD according to their clinic disease behaviour, in order to early identify the potential for a fibrotic progression; To identify clinical and radiological characteristics of fibrotic worsening or the appearance of new interstitial involvement after SARS-Cov-2 infection; To deepen the knowledge of methods, tools and potential for home monitoring of patients with IPF. Format 3 x 15-min lectures with case presentations plus 5 minutes discussion each (total: 60 minutes) Topics "Update on Progressive Fibrotic ILD" - Carlos Robalo Cordeiro "Impact of Covid in pulmonary fibrosis" - Maria Molina Molina "Telemonitoring in IPF" - Marlies Wijsenbeek Learning outcomes Following this course, participants will: Understand the importance of monitoring clinic disease behaviour to identify progressive fibrotic ILD; Be aware of potential effects and impact of Covid 19 in patients with previous ILD or in the development of fibrotic disease de novo; Become familiar with new tools to manage IPF patients at home. CME credit: ERS has applied for an accreditation of this webinar by the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP), 1 CME credit per 1-hour attendance. In case of acceptance, CME credit will be granted upon attendance during the LIVE webinar. Accreditation results will be presented here in the upcoming days. What is a webinar? The webinar closely simulates a lecture-based teaching experience. The speaker can interact with the audience, just as in a classroom setting. This webinar comprises 45-minute lecture followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer sessions. During the webinar you will be asked to share your opinion on issues related to the topic using interactive polls. All participants will be able to hear the lecturer and see the slides throughout the presentation. As a participant you will be able to pose questions or discuss ideas with the other participants via the text chat facility and the speaker will respond to the questions via the microphone. Login guidelines More information will be communicated in due course. Please log in to the webinar 20 minutes before it is scheduled to commence. If you have any technical difficulties whilst trying to log in or during the session please contact e-learning@ersnet.org Check Central European Time. To achieve the best quality, we recommend to stop all other programmes and to avoid downloading anything from the internet during your connection to the lecture.
