CLIMATE CHANGE WILL IMPACT US ALL
One Planet, One Environment, One Humanity. Human-Caused Climate Change Should Be A Wake-up Call to Us All. We need a healthy, balanced natural world for the survival of all species.   To the degree our planet is sick and out of balance so are we.  We must return to our deep interconnection with Nature for our own health and survival  to nutture and revive the harm we humans have wrought.  Nature First.

Fracking the Future - How Unconventional Gas Threatens our Water, Health and Climate

The gas industry’s influence in Washington has grown tremendously thanks, in large part, to the rapid consolidation of the gas industry into the hands of the largest oil companies in the past few years. Not long ago, the industry was made up primarily of what its proponents call “mom and pop” companies—small operators that drilled chiefly for conventional gas.

Ducks doomed by earlier snow melts brought on by global warming, study finds

Scientists long puzzled by the rapid decline in millions of Canadian boreal ducks since the 1970s think they may finally have the cause: global warming.

"Because of climate change, the ducks don't have the food that they need when they need it," Stuart Slattery, a research scientist with Ducks Unlimited Canada, told CBC News on Friday.

With global pollutions trend lines escalating in the wrong direction, it’s pretty clear that by the time the fossil guys wake up to the realities of what they’re doing to the rest of us, it will very likely be too late to reverse the damage. According to some experts, it might be already.

Simply put, it’s been too easy for the pro-pollution crowd to ignore the realities of what they are advocating. The accountability-free zone needs to end.

Gainesville, FL (SPX) Jan 09, 2012 - Unprecedented levels of greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere are disrupting normal patterns of glaciation, according to a study co-authored by a University of Florida researcher and published online Jan. 8 in Nature Geoscience.

"The problem is that now we have added to the total amount of CO2 cycling through the system by burning fossil fuels," said Channell. "The cooling forces can't keep up."

Everything Loses With Climate Change: Drought shrinks China’s largest freshwater lake

Everything Loses With Climate Change: Drought shrinks China’s largest freshwater lake | CLIMATE CHANGE WILL IMPACT US ALL | Scoop.it

Beijing — China’s largest freshwater lake has shrunk to its smallest size in years due to drought, state media and officials said Thursday, endangering the ecology in the area and fishermen’s livelihoods/

There has been 65 percent less rainfall in the area since December compared to the average recorded at the same period over the past 60 years.

As large as 4,500 square kilometres when at full capacity — more than six times the size of Singapore — the lake is home to the migrating Siberian crane in winter and to a rare finless porpoise all year round. The long drought has left many of the lake’s 10,000 fishing boats stranded in shallow waters.

India contemplates looming political, social chaos from climate change

People will be displaced in search of safety, cooler climes, water, better soil, food, and security from others. Social amenities will deteriorate, disease will spread, frictions will bubble to the surface and our political order could collapse altogether. Since the problem of global warming will be as acute if not worse in Bangladesh and Pakistan, our crisis will be even greater than we think. Desperate people will cross the border into India in search of sanctuary.

Climate-Related Severe Weather Made 2011 Costliest Year on Record: Reports

Climate-Related Severe Weather Made 2011 Costliest Year on Record: Reports | CLIMATE CHANGE WILL IMPACT US ALL | Scoop.it

2011 has become widely recognized in the insurance industry as the costliest year in recent history in regards to natural disasters. While estimates varying regarding the total cost of disasters, Munich Re, a reinsurance and risk modeling organization, claims that 2011 generated more than $380 billion in worldwide insured losses, only a third of which was paid by insurance companies. The disasters have caused the global insurance industry to raise prices, but Munich Re suggests that the pricing surge may be due to climate change.

Norwegian official: 'Absolutely no doubt' climate change is real | CLIMATE CHANGE WILL IMPACT US ALL | Scoop.it

Norway's minister of foreign affairs stood at a Petroleum Club lectern on Friday and delivered a few blunt words on climate change, about which, he said, "there can be absolutely no doubt." "If you want to see evidence, go to the Arctic," Jonas Gahr Støre said. His resource-rich country borders the polar region, where melting ice has expanded shipping lanes and cut sailing time on certain routes from Asia to Europe by 40 percent during parts of the year. Last year, Støre said, 34 ships used this "northeast passage," up from six in 2010...
