Going Gluten-Free is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE!

Going Gluten-Free is NOT A DEATH SENTENCE! | Bodybuilding & Fitness | Scoop.it
AlGonzalezinfo's insight:

A colleague of mine just found out she has celiac disease and this article is a great resource for her and many of us. While I don't have Celiac Disease, my bodybuilding mentor has taught me many of the benefits of a gluten-free diet.

I highly recommend glutenfreegal.com for anyone interested in a healthy diet, whether they are sensitive to gluten, or not.

Here is a great segment from the article:

2 years ago, most people didn’t know what gluten free or Celiac Disease, or gluten sensitivity was. Now, Gluten-Free is on the top ten list of the most overused words that people are sick of hearing.

Yet I wonder, how much further are we along in educating the masses about Gluten, about what exactly having a gluten issue means?

  • what involves having gluten issues?
  • Should I get tested before going gluten-free?
  • what are the benefits of living a gfree lifestyle?
  • what are the consequences of not living a gfree lifestyle?
  • Should I be living a GFree lifestyle?

Interesting information here.  What do you think about the following, myth, or not?

2. Myth:  It’s not a good idea to train on an empty stomach

The body burns calories even more when you are practicing before breakfast, then on an empty stomach, and this is confirmed by recent research. Regardless, the entry of water into the body can not be reduced.

Low Testosterone in Young Men

Low Testosterone in Young Men | Bodybuilding & Fitness | Scoop.it
AlGonzalezinfo's insight:

Good article on the possible causes of low-T and good suggestions on how to address it.  If you need another reason to stop using plastic bottles, here it is:

From the article:

The million dollar question is why are so many young men having inadequate hormone levels and what can a person do to prevent this problem? There are many theories on what causes this problem and one of them is someone getting too much exposer to something known as BPA or bisphenol A.

This BPA stuff is inside plastic that is used in water bottles; it's used on the outside of cans and leftover containers.

In a study done in China they tested two groups of men.

One group was constantly exposed to BPA for six months and the other group was not. The end result was that the group that was exposed to this chemical had lower testosterone levels, a lower sperm count and more love making problems.

To protect yourself do not heat anything in plastic, this includes the microwave. Reduce the amount of canned food you consume, don't drink out of plastic bottles and use glass containers to store food.

DUmbBELLDOR's curator insight, January 15, 2014 7:02 AM

If you focus on eating the way humans have been eating for thousands of years not only will this improve your testosterone, but will do so many wonders for your health.

From the post:

Mrs Bradley said: ‘It was amazing to be able to walk down the aisle – I nearly ran it. I had no pain whatsoever and felt so confident. My GP is completely amazed and can’t believe the difference in me.

‘My condition got so severe, it would hurt if I sneezed or moved my toes. I needed assistance for everything, even moving in bed.

Mrs Bradley was diagnosed with syringomyelia in 2009 after suffering years of chronic back pain and shaking in her legs.

It causes cysts to develop in her spinal cord causing pain, muscle weakness and even paralysis

The ultimate fitness guide for office workers - Business Works

The ultimate fitness guide for office workers - Business Works | Bodybuilding & Fitness | Scoop.it

Business Works magazine: Journal highlighting business, entrepreneurship, success and opportunity. Online and in print

AlGonzalezinfo's insight:

Wow, I have not downloaded their guide yet, but check this out:

Office workers are not compensating for this sedentary life once they are away from the office, the research suggests 47% do less than an hour of exercise a week.

Again work appears to be part of the problem. Almost a quarter (24%) surveyed can't fit any exercise into their working day and say it's too late by the time they get home to do it.

As a result, 52% are worried about their weight, only 31% are the right weight for their height, 30% say they have worrying stress levels and 53% fear for their health.

You won’t hear a mentally strong person complaining over lost luggage or traffic jams. Instead, they focus on what they can control in their lives. They recognize that sometimes, the only thing they can control is their attitude.
