BIODIVERSITY IS LIFE –
The Miraculous Web of Life Sustains ALL Species on Planet Earth – Healthy Ecosystems, Healthy Humans. WITHOUT NATURE WE DO NOT EXIST. PERIOD.  To the degree Nature is sick, so are we.  We humans must reintegrate into the greater web of life as a species within it and not separate from it, by returning to respect and restoring balance and harmony to that which supports all life on this planet ... Nature ... #GDP should be replaced by #EcoEconomics ... Putting front and center the concerns for how we are destroying and objectifying the natural world for profit  #Conservation #Ecosystems #Wildlife #Forests #Environment #Biodiversity #Ecoeconomics #CSR #GDP #Anthropocene

The Last Wild Wolves - Part 1

The Last Wild Wolves in British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest.

The problem is that people are becoming so disconnected from their environment, to which all life on Earth depends. I hope videos like this encourage people to go outside an appreciate the beauty of the raw outdoors and all that it has to offer because once enough people recognize the value in healthy functioning ecosystems societies focus might change from economy boosting exploitation to conservation, respect and appreciation. A happy healthy environment equals happy healthy people!

Lexicon of Sustainability: Biodiversity vs. monoculture

Lexicon of Sustainability: Biodiversity vs. monoculture | BIODIVERSITY IS LIFE – | Scoop.it

And so we, "Grist", begin a weekly series of artistically altered images from around the sustainable food world. First up: biodiversity on the farm.

Industrial agriculture = monoculture. Small farms = biodiversity.

Small, organic farms like Rick Knoll's are able to eliminate their reliance on petrochemical-based fertilizers and pesticides. The results are fewer pollutants, less environmental degradation, and cleaner air. And by using cover cropping and other soil fertilization principles they are able to sequester carbon and keep topsoil -- which is carbon heavy -- from being lost into the atmosphere (the latter also contributes to climate change).

Biodiversity = Weeds + trees + crops + critters + soil = An integrated food web allowing biota to self-regulate = A self-regulating, multi-layered farm that requires little maintenance and no pesticides.

Water and forest is interrelated to each other. Forests feed rivers and from them we use for our live. Thus, can we live without water and forest?

Every year 13 million hectares of forest are destroyed because of political corruptions, greed, wealth, development and agriculture. Here is the list of world’s capital cities around the world. All of them depend on water and all of them located near the water sources.

While conservation has long been science driven, success will ultimately come down to changing the way people relate to nature.

Guinness World Records declared in 2008 that Indonesia had the world’s fastest deforestation rate. Borneo alone has lost more than 50 percent of its original forest cover; half of that loss occurred in the past 20 years due to logging, mining, fire, development of palm oil plantations and other habitat-destroying human activities.
