The FATW site has a bit about Cayo in it, and they loved the cave tubing: "This is a unique opportunity to go on a guided tour through some of the areas impressive caves – where you’ll see ancient Mayan artifacts that date as far back as 400 AD as well as the amazing cave formations and crystals that adorn the ceilings and walls of these alien-looking caves – all from the comfort of an intertube floating down a brisk subterranean river."

Love FM has a story on the meeting at Cahal Pech

Love FM has a story on the meeting at Cahal Pech | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Love FM interviewed some of the presenters: "The ceremony included presentations from traditional healers from most of the districts in Belize, that featured insightful information on the process of natural healing with vivid descriptions and examples of natural medicine used to cure different ailments of the human body. The forum set aside some special time for personal interaction with the healers and continued with presentations by Dr. Arvigo on “Maya Medicine as practiced by Don Elijio Panti” and thirteen year old Samuel Hill. The forum ended with closing remarks of Dr. Allan Moore from the Institute of Archaeology."

The Cayo Deaf Institute gets refurbished

The Cayo Deaf Institute gets refurbished | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Feelgood story of the day: Plus TV ran a great story on the Cayo Deaf Institute.  The CDI really is a great organization in Cayo, and they house around 20 deaf students, while teaching them a well rounded education.

"It’s a blessing to us and the kids are just a reward to be able to work with. They warm our hearts as much as we provide good things for them. On this house, they had a very small bathroom and the floors and the walls were decaying. So we put support beams underneath and we expanded it to be double the size that it was."

Well said:  "New years eve bloc party in San Ignacio is still packed with people even in the rain. We sat at Greedy (we met Jonathan Greedy himself) observing the festivities, then listened as Chinese-like firecrackers crackled in the new year. It's the loudest thing we heard all night."

Dr. Jaime Awe shows off Actun Tunichil Muknal

People have been asking if the artifacts in ATM, and the artifacts from Burns avenue are real.  If Dr. Awe says they are authentic, then they are authentic.  This is an old, but amazing video, and the music score really goes with the sights shown.

"San Ignacio and a Day of Chicken Buses" | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

An interesting take on San Ignacio.  Some good snapshots from around the town.

"The bus was going fast, way too fast for an old school bus turned long distance transportation. I closed my eyes and focused on the reggae music blaring through the loudspeakers."
