Cayo BTIA Website

Cayo BTIA Website | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The Cayo chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association has a web page.  It's still being constructed, but it's looking nice so far.  Cayo is the ecotourism capital.  Great picture of ATM.

"San Ignacio Town is the main town in the Cayo District of western Belize and is an ideal base to explore ancient Maya cities like Caracol and Xunantunich, ceremonial caves like Barton Creek and Actun Tunichil Muknal, and cascading water falls like Rio on Pools and Big Rock waterfalls in the Mountain Pine Ridge Nature Reserve.  Hiking, kayaking, bird watching and horseback riding are also top rated outdoor activities in the area.  San Ignacio is also an important en route to and from Guatemala since it is one of the last towns in Belize before entering Guatemala where many travelers go to visit Tikal - one of the largest archaeological site in the country."

Arenal Village Website

Arenal Village Website | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Arenal has a website.  The village is planning for tourism, and has a tourism strategy.  They don't mention the football field that is in both Belize and Guatemala, or the wide selection of beers...yet.  Check out the site for more information.

"We could now do this with your help, would love to implement a first step to bring tourism into our village – a soft, natural and authentic way of tourism – built small structures into single citizen’s properties – cabanas with thatched roof or apartments with a concrete roof – rent these accommodations to our visitors, offer full meal plan within the families – eating the ordinary daily food with the hosts, cooked on open wood fire – delicious Central American food – tortillas, fajitas, empanadas, chicken rice & beans, escabeche, salsas, spices and much more and carefully set our village up to a natural tourist place. Pat the Great Cat

Pat the Great Cat | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Have you seen the 'Pat the Great Cat' website?  It's based upon the book, and gives the history of the story and the literacy project behind it.

"I come from a beautiful tropical place called Belize, in Central America.  Belize is home to many types of tropical forests, mountains, grassy savannahs and small islands called cayes with beautiful sand beaches.  Jaguars like the tropical forests best, and we love to prowl through deep, dark caves that provide good shelter in bad weather.  I’ll let you in on a big secret.  The caves are cool, for a lot of reasons."

Hot Mama's Hot Website

Hot Mama's Hot Website | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Hot Mama's, hot sauce made in Cayo, got a new website.  It looks smooth, and the flames the appear when you navigate are a great touch.  Well done, Belize Internet Marketing and Website Design.

"Typical Belizean hot pepper sauce – only with a twist (blended instead of chopped).  Belizeans love their hot pepper sauce and they have it with every meal.  Walk into any home or restaurant and it is readily available right there on the table.  Made with fresh vegetables such as carrots, onions, garlic, selected red habanero peppers, and mixed with the right combination of lime juice and vinegar.  Hot Mama's is sure there is a hot sauce with the correct amount of heat just for you!  Most importantly to note ---- no preservatives!"

Touring Marie Sharp's Factory

Touring Marie Sharp's Factory | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

'A Lesson in Heat!'  Marie Sharp's got a great review, and what a title they chose for it.  Everyone loves Marie Sharp's, but the author really had a 'crush' on her habanero sauces, and got to meet Marie herself!

"'Marie Sharp?'  I wondered to myself.  'There's really a Marie Sharp?  It's not some fictional character made up by a corporation to sell hot sauce?'  Marie Sharp's hot sauce had been on every table I'd encountered since arriving in Belize four days prior.  I'd sprinkled it over my eggs, into a hot bowl of shrimp soup and timidly to the side of our chicken when I first encountered the 'fiery hot' variety.  With a presence like that, I expected big business.  I never expected to meet the woman responsible for concocting the hot sauce recipes that have become Belize's national condiment."
