BWRC Outreach Road Trip

BWRC Outreach Road Trip | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Feelgood news of the day.  The Belize Wildlife Referral Clinic traveled to Tobacco Caye to do some feline population control.  The Summer interns got to spay and neuter, and hit the beach for some relaxation time.  Thanks, BWRC, for all you do in Cayo, and Belize!

"As said earlier, we were lucky to combine some much needed spay and neutres for a growing (and inbreeding) population of 10 cats on a 5 acre island, with visiting one of our countries gems of nature.  Another weekend on the job, but for once it was not all work..."

Ketterling College has 23 doctors and intern currently in Cayo, providing free consultations and treatment.  Plus TV interviewed Dr. Paula Reams from the group.

"Many years ago, we started it because the school that we are from is an Adventist College and we started a liaison with the Adventist hospital down here and it just kind of grew and we started to work more and more with other people in Belize and now we have gone all over the country, doing these health fairs, from Orange Walk to Punta Gorda.  We have a licensed eye doctor with us on this visit; we have students who are learning to be doctors, we have people who are nurses as well as nursing students and we have nurse practitioners with us on this trip.  We have such a good relationship with the Belizean people and we want to keep coming back.  Everyone helps us out and is so nice that we want to keep coming back."

Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic Video

The Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic has a great new video out which shows and explains a little bit about what they do.  They also interview the first two interns, so you get to see it through their eyes.  The video shows them working on some wildlife, like parrots and iguanas, and some domestic animals.  It also highlights the work they do with the Green Iguana Conservation Project.  Awesome video, shot by Daniel Velazquez.
