Feelgood news of the day. The Rotary Club of San Ignacio had the inauguration of their latest bathroom project. This one at Faith Nazarene is the 14th. Thanks, Rotary!
"The faculty and students of Faith Nazarene Primary School in San Ignacio celebrated the handing over of the new toilet building, built with funds and efforts from Canadian, US and the San Ignacio Rotary Club. The Rotary Club of Athabasca, Rotary Club of St. Albert, Rotary Club of Fairbanks, Rotary Club of Russian Jack Anchorage, and District 7930 funded this through a global grant with the Rotary Foundation. This new facility will positively effect student health and absences due to illness. The San Ignacio club has built 14 toilet buildings at schools around Cayo, impacting the health of over 7500 students."

Feelgood news of the day. The Rotaract Club of San Ignacio visited students of the Yalbac and La Gracia, and delivered school supplies. Not only that, they have many more to distribute, and they pay the tuition for 34 of the students. Thanks, Rotaract!
"Today Rotaract Club of San Ignacio members went out to La Gracia and Yalbac village to deliver bags filled with school supplies for classes from infant 1 to standard 6; the club also pays tuition for all 34 students. We still have 50 additional school bags with school supplies to distribute within this coming month."

Feelgood news of the day. 4 the World is helping to refurb the Calla Creek Community Center. It was unusable, but soon it'll be nice again, and will be used for many village functions. Thanks, 4 the World! "Today 4 the World volunteers from Calla Creek Village along with the Village Chairman Saul Uck and 4 the World's Executive Director Robert Keith Froom started a project to refurbish the village's Community Center... This project will continue throug the summer. And will provide a place for the school to use durring the day as classrooms by the end of August 2015. The Community Center will provide shelter to the village during severe storms and will also house the NEMO early warning alarm system that warns the village of dangerous floods. "

Feelgood video of the day. The US Navy Band on the USNS Comfort played at Calla Creek's Holy Cross primary school on Monday. Great job playing those trumpets! They also brought some much appreciated school supplies. A big round of thanks to the US Navy! "Today Holy Cross RCSchool was visited by this US navy group. It was awesome. They left a small gift for each student.(school bags, notebooks , pencils,erasers,sharpeners,scissors,pens, two small towels ,toothpaste nd toothbrush,soap,deodorant,shampoo,nail clipper,). Thanks US navy!!!!"

Feelgood news of the day. 4 the World distributed books to the children at Calla Creek primary school. Look at all those happy faces. Reading is the key. Thanks, 4 the World, for all you do for the children in Calla Creek! "4 the World volunteers handed out free books to all the kids and teachers in the village. It was a really fun to see how happy the kids were when they were able to choose any book that they wanted. Many of our volunteers played games and read books with the kids. The books for this program were all collected or donated from the US and the books were covered with contact paper to make them last longer. Thanks to everyone who donated books to 4 the World and made this day possible."

Feelgood news of the day. The San Ignacio Public Library hosted Hope Preschool and Rosado's Preschool this week for some storytelling in honor of Children's Month. "Hope and Rosado's Preschool visited the SIPL for stories and activities as part of Child Stimulation Month" The SIPL has copies of A Walk Through El Cayo, and were there for the launch.

Feelgood news of the day. Valley of Peace village had a medical clinic, courtesy of Best of America by Horseback, which promotes riding in Belize. "Today we spent most of the day preparing for the free medical clinic. Best of America by Horseback is providing to a village near Banana Bank Lodge where we take guests riding in Belize. We have not publicized this work on the show, but Best of America by Horseback has been quietly supporting the Valley of Peace Christian School, an elementary school in this small village for some time, helping with school supplies and other needs. Tomorrow and Wednesday our riders and volunteer nurses and a doctor who have traveled here with us from the states will be hosting a free clinic to the students, their families and anyone in the village needing medical attention. This work is extremely heart warming."

It might be a little dated, but the message remains, and they ended it so perfectly: 'We encourage you to keep moving forward and continue to assist in building a strong foundation for the schools in our community.'
