Belize Cancer Society Christmas Luncheon

Belize Cancer Society Christmas Luncheon | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Feelgood news of the day.  The BCS had their Christmas Luncheon for its patients at the lovely Aguada.  Thanks, BCS!

"This past Sunday, December 3rd, the Belize Cancer Society - San Ignacio Branch hosted a Christmas Luncheon for its patients at the The Aguada Hotel in Santa Elena Town. The beautifully decorated space was provided courtesy of The Aguada Hotel and the food, drinks and gifts for the patients were provided by the branch and branch members.

It was a beautiful occasion to welcome the month of December and to share moments of laughter, gratitude and strength. The stories shared and the courage and beauty of the patients and survivors present reminded everyone that despite the daunting struggle cancer brings, the human spirit can rise to the challenge with faith, courage and love.

We hope that this can become an annual event for our branch with the continued support of our community and members."

The handover took place between the two border posts. 9 of the wheelchairs will be distributed in the Flores/Santa Elena area and the other 9 in Sayaxché, which is a town about 1 ½ hours south of Flores. It is an interesting place as you cross a large river on a huge car and truck ferry, powered by a tiny outboard motor at one corner."
