Rebecca Stirm Wins Again!

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again! | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm garnered her 3rd win yesterday on the 6th episode of Jamaica's Mission Catwalk.  She won with a dress based upon the red ribbon signifying HIV/AIDS awareness.  Congratulations again, Rebecca!

Rebecca said, "I made an effort not to over-style and keep the emphasis on the neckline and HIV/AIDS awareness ribbon by sticking to a simple colour palette and styling with a pair of chunky studded earrings."

Guest judge, Dr. Sharlene Jarrett said, "Rebecca's chic interpretation allowed the red ribbon to be the focus without overpowering the design."

Mission Catwalk episode 4 trailer

Rebecca Stirm isn't just on this trailer, she's the first designer that's interviewed.  It starts off like a horror movie: Blair Catwalk Project.  Was that skin on those sissors?  Stay alive...and good luck, Rebecca!

Most classic line ever in fashion: "I guess it's cute... it looks like a box of kleenex."  Way to call it like you see it!  This episode is a must see, and hopefully Rebecca will once again dazzle the judges.

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again on Mission Catwalk

Rebecca Stirm Wins Again on Mission Catwalk | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm has won for the fourth time on Mission Catwalk.  One of the 2 dresses she made this week was inspired by a turtle after a visit to the zoo.  Nice!

"After a visit to the Hope Zoo in St Andrew, the seven remaining contestants were instructed to design a gown for a charity gala and a second garment for a charity luncheon inspired by one animal from the zoo.  Stirm chose the turtle because it was 'an unusual and unique animal that people didn't already have preconceptions about what a dress inspired by that animal should look like,' she explains.  Using a patterned fabric, she created a gown with a dramatic neckline, and for the skirt created layers from circular cut-outs that mimic a turtle's shell.  For her second outfit the patterned fabric was more prominent and used for most of the blouse while creating a pencil skirt in a monotone beige."

Joris' dress made out of a blue tarp is featured on AALAWI Productions' site.  They did a photoshoot at Altun Ha ruins, which made for a nice back drop.  The next Eco Love fashion show should be in early Summer.  Where will it be this time?

"This wasn't supposed to actually be a photoshoot, but it came out nice, so I decided to release it.  The dress is made of a blue tarp and safety pins over the corset part.  You can visit the designer and see more of his Eco Love creations, Joris Hendrik's Fagebook page @ https://www.facebook.com/JorisHendrik"

Rebecca Stirm wins again on Mission Catwalk

Rebecca Stirm wins again on Mission Catwalk | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Rebecca Stirm has done it again!!!  Out of 3 competitions, she has won twice, and been runner up the other time.  Way to go, Rebecca!  This time, she won with a design inspired from Cinderella Hats.

"When I saw the hats, I immediately knew which one I wanted to work with.  The lady-like peach hat had caught my eye.  In my original sketch for the piece, I had planned on doing a soft summer dress.  After looking around a bit though, and realizing that everyone else was doing dresses, I chose to do a blouse and pants."
