Kristyn Tillet Professes at 20,000 Strong Rally

Kristyn Tillet Professes at 20,000 Strong Rally | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Video of the decade!  This is a must watch video.  Ms. Tillet delivered one of the best poems ever on empowerment.  Seeing her do this live was incredible!  Tears welled up in many of our eyes.  She will be leading Belize some day, and more power to her.  This video should be played in every school, every class, every semester!

"On Friday, March 16th, Kristyn Tillet, a first form student of Corozal Community College transmitted a powerful and chilling poem on the empowerment and participation of adolescents; a poem which resulted in a standing ovation from everyone in attendance at the 20,000 STRONG Women’s Empowerment Rally. Kristyn was one of 9 dynamic speakers whose voices were heard that day."

My Body is Precious – Girl Empowerment Campaign

My Body is Precious – Girl Empowerment Campaign | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Kim Simplis-Barrow, the Special Envoy for Women and Children, will be coming to Cayo next week to continue the 'My Body is Precious' campaign and speak about female empowerment.  She'll be in Belmopan on the 28th at the UB auditorium, and in Cayo and Benque on the 30th.  This is great timing considering the horrendously idiotic comments that came from one of the Amandala writers, and the talked about boycott of the publication.  Thanks, Mrs. Simplis-Barrow, we're behind you all the way!

"The Special Envoy for Women and Children will be embarking on a countrywide Girl Empowerment Campaign, which will be launched in Belize City on Monday, October 28, 2013.  This tour is an extension of the My Precious is Precious initiative, which started with the launch of a child friendly book on “good touch, bad touch” in April of this year."
