Great pictures from the opening of Heibugu Garinagu - The Garifuna Journey Exhibit, which is will be on display at the University of Belize through the 24th.

'This display brings attention to the history, challenges, achievements, and impactful contributions of the Garinagu, which laid the foundation for contemporary Belizean culture!

The Garifuna Collective will be playing at UB on Thursday, November 16. It's a special event in aid of the President's Endowment Fund.

Sacred Heart Junior College and the University of Belize signed an MoU to provide Bachelor's degrees at SHJC.  There's still time to apply through July. Awesome opportunity for students in the Cayo area.  Read the official press release here.

The 2020 Belize Tertiary Options and Opportunity Education Expo is next Wednesday, February 5th.  It'll be held at the University of Belize's gymnasium.  Students are invited to the event, where they can find out about educational programs and scholarships.

The National Student Union of Belize is having a Peace March on Monday, February 18th, in Belmopan.  It'll start at UB, and end at the steps of the National Assembly building. 

"This coming Monday the 18th of February, 2019, the University of Belize (Belmopan campus) is holding a peace march starting at the parking lot of our central campus at 2pm. Invited guests will do presentations on the importance of having a peaceful environment to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children and students spanning all levels and backgrounds. After the presentations, a march to the steps of the National Assembly building will commence. The various clubs at the University will be involved to show solidarity which expands beyond the bounds of our National University`s central campus. We extend this invitation to all academic levels to be a part of this event as it is of national importance. Thus, we urge all academic institutions in the area to notify their students to participate in the march as it will also foster student academic and social growth. "

Congratulations, Reyna Choj! She is the 2023 Miss Earth Belize, and will represent Belize in Vietnam for this year's Miss Earth pageant. She is a great role model for youths: she's volunteered with many NGO's, including the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic, and is curuniversity of belize,rently pursuing her Bachelor's Degree at UB. Felicitations, Ms. Choj!

'Reyna was crowned by Simone Sleeuw (Miss Earth Belize 2022) on Monday, September 25th, in a private coronation held in San Ignacio, Belize.

Sacred Heart Junior College will be partnering with UB to offer Bachelor's degrees.  Currently, they'll have Business degrees in Marketing, Management, and Finance. Awesome to see even more educational opportunities in the Twin Towns.  Education is the key!

The Scorpions are hosting the Black Jaguars for the ATLIB Football Regionals this Monday. The females teams will play at 5pm, and the male teams at 7pm. Go Scorpions!

'Come out and support our SHJC's Scorpions as they take on UB's Black Jaguars at the Norman Broaster Stadium. Entrance will be $1 for students and $2 public.'

The 2019 Caribbean Studies Forum will be next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the University of Belize.  It's been a year and half since the last one, and this year's theme is: Writing, Rite-ing, Righting, Wright-ing.  Approaches uniting fields such as anthropology, the arts, economics, education, folk culture, geography, history, languages— including Creoles and Pidgins—linguistics, literature, medicine, music, politics, psychology, religion, and sociology are encouraged.  

The 12th annual Natural Resource Management and Research Symposium is next Tuesday and Wednesday, the 28th and 29th, and will be held at the University of Belize's Central Campus.  Everyone is invited.  Great flier!

We had another record year of abstract submissions - this year we will feature 39 presentations over the two days, covering too many topics to list here (marine, freshwater and terrestrial). Look out also for our Posters and Cocktails event, on the evening of Day 1, featuring 20 presented posters at the Embassy of Mexico.
