The Cayo North September Shutdown is planned for Wednesday, September 20th. Ring in the 42nd Independence Day at Galvez stadium. It's free, and it starts at 10pm. Supa G and the Gilharry 7 Band will be performing.

The 2023 National Song Competition has a $20,000 grand prize!  Who's going to try to write the winning song?

"As part of the 2022 September Celebrations, the Benque Viejo Town Council with the National Institute of Culture and History held a fantastic night of Belizean artistic talent. A good number of participants from Benque Viejo and other parts of Belize assembled at the Marshalleck Stadium to showcase their special talent."

The 2022 Fire Engine Parade will be Friday the 9th.  It'll start at 7pm, and there will be fireworks at midnight.

The Belize at 40 Public Lecture will be Wednesday, September 8th, at 7pm.  The presenters will discuss a wide range of subjects on the current state of Belize.

"In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Belize's Independence and the 223rd Anniversary of the Battle of St. George's Caye, the National Celebrations Commission announces the 2021 Theme Competition and the Logo Design Competition!"

The official list of September Celebrations activities.  Most will be done virtually this year.  The official launch is Sunday at 3pm.  The Virtual Bram is the 9th, at 8pm.

The 2018 September Celebrations Launch was yesterday at Falcon Field.  It was a fun day for everyone.  Plenty of great music from Los Hijos del West and the New Sensation Band, along with some nice choreographed dances from the Western Heat Dance Company.

"Sunday August 26th, His Worship Mayor Earl Trapp and the San Ignacio - Santa Elena Town Council hosted the Launch of the September Celebrations 2018. The Launch was attended by His Excellency Sir Colville Young, Governor General of Belize, who conducted the inspection of the Belize Defence Force Guard of Honour. Other honorable guests included Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Celebrations Commission, Hon. Patrick Faber. Hon. Orlando Habet, Area Representative for the Cayo North East, represented the People’s United Party, several members of the House of Representatives, Chief Executive Officers, members of the San Ignacio – Santa Elena Town Council, other invited guests and members of the public were in the audience.

 

After moving speeches by Mayor Trapp and Deputy Prime Minister Faber centered around the September Celebrations Theme, “Belize Da Fu Wi - Now and Forever, 8867”, Minister Faber presented the cash prize to the creator of this year’s theme, Mrs. Fernanda Tun. A moving presentation of song and cultural dances by the Western Heat Dance Company followed and made the event distinctly representative of the cultures of “El Cayo” in its appeal. As a part of the ceremony Mayor Trapp was asked to select, via a random lotto pick, the municipality that will host the 2019 Launch of the September Celebrations and chose “Punta Gorda”.

 

Music, dance and much festivity filled the Falcon Field at the end of the official ceremony. Surely a forerunner to the events planned and anxiously anticipated for the National September Celebrations."

The September Celebration Calendar of Events is out.  Cayo has a lot planned over the next few months.  Cayo is on page 6, Benque is on page 11, and Belmopan is on page 5.  Download the pdf here.  The Western Explosion celebrating the end of Summer will be on the 12th at Galvez stadium.

The PRO FC 8 will be in Cayo on Saturday, September 2nd. Perez will host Chutan.

The Gilharry 7 Band will be playing at the Santa Elena Sports Complex next Saturday night for the Battle of St. George's Caye Day. Awesome! The fun will start at 6pm, and go to midnight.

The September Celebrations Committee is accepting entries for the 2022 September Celebrations Theme, and nominations for the 2022 Belize Awards. The theme winner will receive $1000.

 

"The National Celebrations Commission (NCC) invites all Belizeans living at home and abroad to participate in this year's September Celebrations Theme Competition. The winner receives a cash prize of $1000 and bragging rights!!! Multiple entries are allowed, be unique, creative and proud of our BELIZE!!!"

The Belize National Celebrations Commission is taking nominations for Belizean Pioneers.  Now's the time to nominate people for the various awards based upon what they have done around Belize.  There are 7 categories.  The deadline for nominations is September 3rd.

"The Belize History Association (BHA) in collaboration with the Institute for Social and Cultural Research and its partners proudly presents its Sixth Annual September Lecture as part of the 2019 September Celebrations. The lecture is entitled “The History and Evolution of the Belize Flag”.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Nigel Encalada, Director of the Institute for Social and Cultural Research of the National Institute of Culture and History.

The lecture was held at the Bliss Center in Belize City on Tuesday, 17th September 2019, at 8:00 p.m."

All Belizeans living at home or abroad are invited to submit their ideas for the theme of the 2020 September Celebrations in commemoration of the 222nd Anniversary of the Battle of St. George’s Caye and the 39th Anniversary of Belize’s Independence.
 
The theme should not be more than ten (10) words. Multiple entries are allowed and the winner will receive a cash prize of $500.
 
Submissions can be emailed to: septembercelebrations@gmail.com or dropped off at the NICH office on Regent Street, the Bliss Center for Performing Arts on Southern Foreshore in Belize City or at any of the Houses of Cultures in the districts.
