BBIA Book Fair in Cayo

The Belize Book Industry Association's annual Book Fair was held at the Cayo Welcome Center on Friday and Saturday.  There were tons of activities, including workshops for teachers, booths from local publishers, face painting, and even a book exchange.  The San Ignacio Public Library was there too, and they did some storytelling.  A literary evening on Saturday night, where some members from Drums Not Guns played, ended the festivities.

Flash Mob in San Ignacio

There was a flash mob in Cayo!  The Rotary Club of San Ignacio and the Rotary Club of Red Deer in Canada, along with a little help from the San Ignacio Public Library and some Sacred Heart primary school students, celebrated Children's Month, and headed to the Cayo Welcome Center for the performance.  Rotary also had one in Belmopan with the St. Martin's Primary School students.  It's all part of their Literacy Alive project.


The SIPL also teamed up with tourism students at SHJC for the Art in the Park day.


"Sacred Heart school participates in flash mob to encourage reading to keep literacy alive.  thanks canadian rotary and SHPS in making the library a part of this event."

BBIA Book Week(end) in Cayo

BBIA Book Week(end) in Cayo | Cayo Scoop!  The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The Cayo Welcome Center was the venue for the Belize Book Industry Assocition's Book Week festivities Friday and Saturday.  The BBIA, along with the San Ignacio Public Library and NICH, made the weekend all about reading. Tons of students came out for the Book Fair, and they got to see storytelling, a map reading quiz, a grafitti competition, a cultural night on Burns avenue, and much more.  Thanks to all involved for getting the younger generation interested in books.

Happy Book Week!  The BBIA is having their annual Book Fair to celebrate, and it'll be at the Cayo Welcome Center Friday and Saturday.  The fun starts at 9:00am.  They'll have informational booths set up, the San Ignacio Public Library and the SISE House of Culture will be there, there will be face painting for the kids by the SHJC face painting crew, and lots of great books.  They are planning cultural night activities too.

The San Ignacio Public Library posted a ton of pictures from the BBIA Book Fair, which was held at the Cayo Welcome Center, and on Burns avenue.  They got some great pictures of the acrobatics that took place on Burns.

The Belize Book Industry Association and the San Ignacio Public Library are having a book fair at the Cayo Welcome Center tomorrow, Friday the 26th, and Saturday the 27th.  There will be tons of events for the family and the children.  They'll have a book exchange, a map reading quiz, a culture night, a creative writing workshop, and a grafitti competition.  Thanks, BBIA and SIPL!

 

"Cayo welcome center will be hosting the annual book fair on Friday April 26th, 2013.  Everyone is welcome to come and check it out! at 6:30pm, there will be storytelling and performances you dont want to miss.  Bring out the children so they can have some great laughs and fun fun fun!  Parents, immerse your child in the world of books!"
