The San Ignacio Public Library staff performed at Belmopan's Camp Fire and storytelling event.  They are famous for their storytelling. 

They also celebrated World Literacy Day at the Cayo Welcome Center.

The San Ignacio Public LIbrary is celebrating Education Week, and they had Sacred Heart's infant 1 class over for some story telling.  Thanks, SIPL!  The students sang a song for Ms. Teresita.

The Santa Elena Community Preschool visited the SIPL for some storytelling and fun activities for Children's Month.  Thanks, SIPL!

The San Ignacio Public Library is having their annual Summer camp, and it starts next Monday, July 7th.  Call them at 804-0459 for more information.  This year's theme is 'Water = Life.' 

There was a flash mob in Cayo!  The Rotary Club of San Ignacio and the Rotary Club of Red Deer in Canada, along with a little help from the San Ignacio Public Library and some Sacred Heart primary school students, celebrated Children's Month, and headed to the Cayo Welcome Center for the performance.  Rotary also had one in Belmopan with the St. Martin's Primary School students.  It's all part of their Literacy Alive project.

The SIPL also teamed up with tourism students at SHJC for the Art in the Park day.

The San Ignacio Public Library had their first Finados.

The Santa Elena and San Ignacio Public Libraries are hosting another Poetry Night tonight, at 6:00pm, at the SIPL.  Poets will include Ms. Melba Velasquez, Mr. Jim Arnold, Ms. Natalie Williams, so you know it'll be worth seeing.

Feelgood news of the day.  The San Ignacio Public Library had their SMART Summer camp, where they helped kids with math and reading.

"One week of 'Summer Math and Reading Tutorial' was held at the library. During this week children had fun with activities such as face painting and arts.  Thank you all for making this year's SMART program at San Ignacio Public Library a success.  Thank you volunteers and participants."

The San Ignacio Public LIbrary is doing a Summer Program for kids between the ages of 5 and 12.  The dates are from July 1st through the 5th, and the activities will be held at the SIPL.  The theme will be 'Endangered Species of Belize.'  Contact them at 804-0459 or by email at sanignaciolibrary@yahoo.com.

CAPPS had its zone 2 reading contest finals at the San Ignacio Public Library.  Congratulations to the 3 winners and best of luck and the district finals!

Feelgood news of the day.  The San Ignacio Public Library hosted Hope Preschool and Rosado's Preschool this week for some storytelling in honor of Children's Month.

It's Children's Month - and Women's Month - and to celebrate, the San Ignacio Public Library is doing more great storytelling for Cayo schools.  They also hosted Kidde Kinder Preschool.  Thanks, SIPL!

Happy Education Week!  The San Ignacio Public Library is celebrating Education Week, and visiting, and being visited by, many of Cayo's primary schools to promote reading.  They've visited St. Francis Xavier in Esperanza, and have been visited by Sacred Heart Primary, and Santa Elena Primary schools.  Education Week goes through Friday, May 17th, which is also Teacher's Day.  Thanks, SIPL!

"The San Ignacio Public Library had another Santa Elena town pre-school visit.  Hope Pre-school had a blast!!"

The San Ignacio Public Library is having their first Finados this evening at 5:00pm.  Like their page to keep current with their events. 

"In 1936 the Jubilee Public Library established a 'sub-library' in the town of El Cayo San Ignacio.  It consisted of books which were kept in the District Commissioner's Office.  In 1951, the sub-library of San Ignacio was moved from the Commissioner's Office to the lower flat of the El Cayo Town Board.  In the subsequent years there was a need for more space since the library was already undersized for the number of patrons it served.  An ambitious project began; which was to provide the population of San Ignacio and surrounding areas with a new public library.  The Mayor of San Ignacio/Santa Elena, John August was approached and it didn’t take long when the new library site was identified being the dilapidated meat market.  With the tremendous contribution of the Social Investment Fund, The Rotary Club, San Ignacio/ Santa Elena Town Council and the Belize National Library Service and Information System (BNLSIS) , the new library became a reality and had its grand inauguration on November 3rd 2010."

The San Ignacio Public Library is having their poetry night tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 28th, at 6:00pm.

The San Ignacio Public Library had their Summer Camp this week.  They visited the Green Iguana Conservation Project and the Belize Zoo as part of the program.  Looks like they had a lot of fun, especially with the iguanas and snakes.  Thanks, SIPL!
