Pro World Belize Medical Clinics

Pro World Belize had a student group in that provided medical clinics around Cayo. They were able to screen more than 300 people. Thanks, Pro World Belize!

"We were happy to have 10 students and 3 faculty members from the Delaware Technical Community College volunteer with us in Cayo, Belize for one week. Most of the students, who studied nursing or emergency medicine, assisted at three community medical clinics in nearby villages. They helped to screen more than 300 people and performed basic health screenings, which include blood pressure checks, blood sugar screenings, and basic health measurements. They also had a chance to enjoy Cayo's Easter Festival which happened the same week!"

National Service Day at Octavia Waight

Feelgood story of the day. The SISE HoC and Pro World teamed up to spend a day at the Octavia Waight Centre, and they had 100 Sacred Heart Primary students with them.

"Along with us was Pro World who collaborated with making the day a success. We had fun activities for the kids to enjoy while learning that serving others is fun. They also learned that serving others comes from the heart and that they must take the initiative to help. At the end of the lecture on George Price's life, the motivational speech by Ms. Catherine Garnett from Pro World and activities, the kids headed to the Octavia Waight Centre to perform for the elderly. Their performance was well received and a smile was passed to them as thank from the Elderly. The kids ended their performance by saying, "We love you all, thank you for having us". Children are the foundation of the future and on National Service day they honored the life of our Hero George Cadle Price by serving others."

San Antonio Garden Project

ProWorld Belize is doing a garden project in San Antonio. It will provide some of the food for school lunches at the primary school.

"ProWorld Belize is working with a primary school in San Antonio, Belize to create a school garden. ProWorld is working with teachers, cooking staff and community leaders to develop a curriculum that teaches the benefits of healthy eating and nutrition to the students. The garden will provide fruits and vegetables for the school lunch program. In a community which is already made up of 90% farmers, this school garden will serve as a model of sustainable organic farming."
